I have a degree in Theological Stidies and I can understand the logic of why shade over a canal prevents evaporation and the water creates a cooling effect that boosts the efficiency of of the panels. I can also very easily comprehend that the panels don’t have to be at water level to achieve this. This isn’t even the hard stuff that needs doing! If this is the level of discourse at this stage of the game then it’s clear that we needed to start 50 years ago.
I'm trying to understand how Canal-spanning solar panels "on our canal system is a smart solution to our growing water and energy dilemas" What happens when the water level rises? When something gets stuck in the canal? How does that solar "canopy" stretched across a canal get maintained and repaired? Can y'all explain this to me? In #Rwanda, solar water pumps have significantly improved irrigation efficiency, allowing farmers to cultivate higher-value crops and increase their income. A pilot study conducted by Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) and The World Bank revealed that 64% of farmers were able to grow additional crops and hire more labor due to increased water availability from solar water pumps. Picture this: vast expanses of farmland adorned with solar panels, each capturing sunlight to power irrigation systems, farm machinery, or even nearby communities. ➡️ The potential for Agri-PV is immense! 🌾🌞 In essence, Agri-PV is about integrating solar panels into agricultural landscapes, harnessing sunlight to produce clean electricity while coexisting harmoniously with crop production. This concept allows us to create new opportunities for sustainable development. A key component for efficient Agri-PV systems are Stäubli's renowned Original MC4 connectors, which play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and longevity of the systems and can withstand extreme weather conditions to provide uninterrupted clean energy. ✔️💚 Want to know more about our MC4? Building and creating sustainable actions🤝 for natural resources 🌍 and water💦protection ⎜ ESG ⎜ Sustainability ⎜ Youth Empowerment💪🏽in Water ⎜ Project Managenment ⎜ Leadership
And the impact could be even greater, because the shade created by the PV (photovoltaic) systems could allow crops to use water more efficiently. It's a subject I'm really interested in because agriculture is the biggest water 💧user.
