Supporting university students in completing their degrees by helping them learn 'How to University'
The Encyclopedia of University Terms entry for this week is: first-generation student. It's really valuable to know if a student you're supporting is first-generation. While not all first-generation students have the same experience, it can flag up to you that you might want to provide additional context and information for things that seem 'common sense' to someone whose parents did go to university or who grew up in an environment where the university experience was discussed frequently. First-generation students are the original inspiration for My Academic Family, based on my experiences and the fact that my parents didn't complete their university studies. All the resources created and shared are meant to provide clear, proactive, and practical information to help students better understand the university environment and engage successfully with their university experience. If you aren't sure how to best support the student in your life, have a look at the resources on our website to help you find some topics that can be useful to cover. Alternatively, we're happy to provide direct support ourselves. You can find our resources and support options on our website at https://lnkd.in/eQPdW2Zp. #StudentSupport #StudentSuccess #University
