💼 Overwork is NOT a Badge of Honor 💼
Lately, I’ve been seeing more and more stories of people getting seriously sick or even passing away due to overwork. It’s becoming a bigger issue, and I think it’s time we start talking about it more seriously. 🥵
Not too long ago, I had interviews with two major multinational companies (which I can’t name). After the interview, they told me they were looking for a “number-oriented” person who could achieve massive results in a short amount of time. For instance, the role I applied for—Recruitment Officer—expected me to recruit at least 20 people per month for various roles like sales, business development, and data analysis. This was for a standard 8-to-5 job, with a salary barely above the minimum wage (UMR).💨
I asked them about the high turnover rates and the lack of work-life balance that I had come across in reviews, and their response was that this has always been their way, implying that overworking was the norm.🥲
This “grind culture”—where working too hard is seen as essential or even a badge of honor—is not sustainable. It leads to burnout, poor mental health, and sometimes tragic consequences. Companies must realize that employees are human beings, not machines. They need to invest in their talent by providing:📊✨
- Continuous skill advancement opportunities
- High-quality training and professional development
- Motivation that focuses on growth, not just numbers
- A positive and balanced work environment that fosters well-being.
The companies that stand out as the best places to work are those that are innovative, creative, fun, and progressive. They understand the value of work-life balance, and that fostering a healthy work culture leads to better productivity, employee retention, and overall company success.
Let’s stop normalizing burnout and start creating workplaces that put people first. 🧠💪 #WorkLifeBalance #OverworkCrisis #MentalHealthMatters #EmployeeWellbeing #BetterWorkCulture
