Networking on the internet is robotic. Online networking: "Hi! I'm Courtney, I recruit for folks like yourself who work in staffing, I'd love to chat with you about the industry, when will you have a few minutes?" Networking in person: "Oh you're a recruiter? So am I. What industry do you recruit for?" One of these examples ends with either no response at all, or something to the tune of "Thanks for reaching out, but I'm happy in my job. I'll let you know if that changes" and the other results in a conversation. I'll let you decide which is which.

Recruiters - Networking feel awkward? We got you. Building a contact list for your recruiting career is important, but it can at times feel artificial. We wrote a two-volume field guide on how to network organically and without guilt. Networking doesn’t have to be mechanical. In fact, it shouldn’t. Recruiters and candidates are humans, not robots. So forget scaling and automation; it’s time to put curiosity in the driver’s seat. Principles of curious networking, Part 1: https://lnkd.in/gX9b2dVm This post covers the first three principles of how to network curiously: - Show up consistently - Grow your curiosity - Pay attention to attention Part 2 coming soon 👀

I guide people to re-discover their passion - and 'sweet-spot' - in work and in life. A catalyst for people to become emboldened, congruent, and genuine in the way they deal with transition; I'm a job alchemist.
Networking is King - and Queen! It is how 85-90% of people get jobs. So, here are some different, even counterintuitive, ways to really make hay in your networking efforts... • Unless you know a 1st level connection like a brother or sister, don't give them control of your search. You don't know what, if anything, they will do. So take it on yourself! ◦ Meaning, get NAMES of stakeholders from them. Then you reach out to those folks, referencing your mutual contact. ▪ Stakeholders can be recruiters, HR contacts, HR business partners, team members, or hiring managers themselves. ▪ Work the problem to get the right approach. That is time very well spent. ▪ Reach out by email, even hand-carry your resume to them. ▪ Be clear that you have the chops to do the job and are eminently worth having a live conversation with. ▪ Use the job description to help form your email content or rap. ◦ How do you get their email address, you might ask? D&B Hoovers, my friend! ▪ At a minimum you'll be able to see the organizing principle for their email addresses • For some outreach, it's a very cold call. Don't focus on asking them to refer you but rather focus your 'ask' on understanding the company culture, the work environment, etc. - part of your "research", you know? ◦ And ALWAYS ask, "Anyone else I should talk to"? Carpe diem, gang!

Senior Recruitment Consultant | Recruitment Operations, Project Management, and everything in between! | #LetsGetPaired
Hi LinkedIn, it's been a while since my last post! Back again with some practical advice for your career growth. After covering one-way video interviews last time, let's shift our focus to an equally crucial skill: networking. As a Senior Recruitment Consultant at Paired, I've seen how effective networking can make or break careers. Here are some strategies I've found particularly valuable: <<<Let's dive into some game-changing networking strategies>>> Quality Connections— Forget about collecting business cards like Pokémon. Focus on building meaningful relationships. It's not about how many people you know, but how well you know them. Prep Like a Pro— Before that big industry event, do your homework! Research attendees and companies. Having talking points ready is like bringing a secret weapon to a networking battle. Follow-Up Finesse— Met someone interesting? Don't let that connection fizzle out! Send a personalized message within 48 hours. Bonus points for referencing something specific from your chat. Give to Get— Networking isn't a one-way street. Look for ways to add value to your connections. Share that insightful article, make that introduction, or offer your expertise. LinkedIn Leverage— Your profile is your digital handshake. Keep it polished, share your insights regularly, and engage with others' content. Remember, LinkedIn is for nurturing relationships, not just job hunting! Remember, networking isn't about collecting contacts like trophies. It's about building a community of professionals who support and inspire each other. At Paired Recruiting, we're all about fostering these connections – both for ourselves and for the fantastic talent we place. Have a networking win or horror story to share? Drop it in the comments! Let's learn from each other's triumphs and facepalms. 😅 How do you approach networking in our increasingly digital world? Are you a virtual networking ninja, or do you prefer the old-school handshake? Share your thoughts below! #NetworkingTips #CareerAdvice #PairedRecruiting #ProfessionalGrowth

Unpopular opinion: Networking doesn't work. This is what does. Ever wondered why some people always seem to thrive in their job searches and careers? It's because they know the difference between networking and building relationships. Networking: - Going to events - Shaking hands - Exchanging business cards - Asking, “What do you do?” Networking often sounds like: - "I need X." - "Can you review my resume?" - "I want a job at your company, help me." Whereas... Relationship Building: - Identifying key people who can positively impact your life - Spending time researching their ideas, companies, and goals - Adding value to them from your very first interaction It’s about continuously and GENUINELY adding value, time and time again. Building relationships is what gets you hired, promoted, and funded. Stop networking. Start building authentic, meaningful relationships.
