Your daily reminder to keep those creative juices flowing…🎨 🎶 🥾 Our industry demands creativity at every turn. We are nothing without powerful ideas. New ideas. Ideas that effect change. Our job is to bring infinite new thinking to the table, every day, to make impact. But sometimes…it’s already been “done before,” or you’re just fresh out of ideas… Taking a beat to step away from the laptop and soak up the creative richness around you is instrumental to survival in a creativity-driven field. But, how can we energize that creativity in, and around us every day?   1. Embrace Diverse Perspectives Without diverse perspectives, our world-view is flat and soul-less. We know this, but we must be vigilant in continuing to open ourselves up to new cultures, new foods, new experiences, new perspectives. We often forget to do this amid the hustle and bustle of the daily grind. Gaining a better understanding through immersing yourself in a variety of voices and experiences will make you a better creative thinker (and a better human). Dive into that new podcast (I really need to change up my crime-junkie playlist, so I’m going to opt for Throughline this week). Book that trip. Explore new places. Cook that new recipe. Dive deep into the history of your local town. By the way, do you know where Denver’s Chinatown is? https://lnkd.in/gqMMeC42 3. Play Why do just the kids get to play? I brought my son back to school after a morning doctor's visit and was transported back to the nostalgia of snowball fights and four-square when I saw the kids geared up and headed out to build snow-dinosaurs. Ahh, the magic of recess. I have recently impressed myself by building intricate structures with my four-year-old. Is this my architect mother coming through in my creative play? When we’re relaxed and having fun, we’re more open to exploring new ideas without the fear of failure. Continue to spark your imagination—whether that means doodling, playing improv games, or diving into some good old-fashioned childhood games. Capture the flag, anyone? Your brain will thank you. Some great workplace game ideas here to get you going: https://lnkd.in/gwFrPFAR 2. Get inspired There's so much inspiration around us every moment of every day. Sometimes we just need to be reminded to dig in. Remember that school field trip, that camping adventure, that study abroad program that blew you away and opened your eyes to something new and different? Don’t lose that. Look for inspiration in the world around you––art, music, architecture, history, nature. Take a walk through a gallery, listen to different music, visit a neighborhood you’re unfamiliar with...or, hell, why not try ice climbing? I highly recommend you take the Denver graffiti tour in RiNo: https://lnkd.in/gd_ifnUA And just remember, a good idea can come from anywhere (or anyone)—give yourself the space and setting to unleash your wildest thinking.
