Chief Executive Officer @ IPCWell | National speaker, Reducing the Burden of Healthcare and Infectious Diseases Globally.
Last month CMS finalized the staffing rule for long-term care facilities. This rule mandates a minimum nurse staffing level of 3.48 hours per resident day, compromising at least 0.55 HPRD of direct registered nurse care and 2.45 hours per resident day of direct nurse aid care. These mandates have three phases of rollout starting from 90-days to 3-years. While acknowledging the challenges accompanying this regulation, the primary objective remains clear: enhancing resident safety and the quality of care provided.

This is a tough question to answer isn't it. I'm fact, there are several challenges and it's so hard to pinpoint just one! As a nurse, I think that one of the biggest problems is the extensive amounts of paperwork and audits. This takes us away from our residents and gives us less time to care. This is NOT why we chose care as a profession! At Laurel Nursing, we have developed simple audits and compliance systems that can be completed quickly but that also adhere to CQC governance and requirements. With over a decade of experience supporting nursing homes to improve their quality, I am also more than happy to help you improve your current compliance system so if you need any support or advice, please get in touch 😊 Want to find out more? 🌱 If you would like support to develop and implement quality and compliance systems in your care home, head over to www.laurelnursing.co.uk. We have everything you need to get started including full suites of audits and handy guides to help you take your care home to the next level and to ensure the safety and happiness of your residents 🌱 #carehome #nursinghome #qualityandcompliance #governance #nursing
