The Belgrade Theatre has just released a short film: Turn and Draw, which was filmed in and around Coventry Cathedral. The film includes a short scene from their upcoming theatrical production of Romeo and Juliet which will run at the Belgrade from Fri 21 Feb to Sat 8 Mar 2025 and is on sale now. This new production shines with new original music. Think everyday English as well as the Elizabethan variety. And the poetry of rap rhythms as well as perfect pentameters. It's a Shakespearean lyrical love story – for people who love the music of the spoken word of every generation. Whether you’re a Shakespeare devotee or brand new to the work, this will be an unmissable show that is expected to pull audiences into Coventry from far and wide. Please take a moment to watch the short film and please do share with your own networks if you’re able to!

THE MAJOR TONES selected at SIFF! Hebe Tabachnik wrote: Ana, a 14-year-old girl, begins to perceive strange vibrations coming from her body. She received a metal prosthesis in her arm after an accident and believes that object is causing the unusual sounds. Determined to solve the mystery, she first tries composing a melody inspired by the tones she perceives to no avail. After an unexpected encounter with a young soldier, who interprets the tones as a possible series of Morse coded messages, Ana begins an intriguing and exciting journey to discover the meaning and specially the identity of the person behind the inexplicable pulsations. Winner of two Silver Biznagas at the 2024 Malaga Film Festival for Best Ibero American Film and Best Actress, The Major Tones marks Ingrid Pokropek's promising directorial debut. She offers a story that interweaves Ana’s ordinary teen life, refreshingly played by Sofía Clausen, with slightly supernatural elements where music and sound play a crucial role in the plot and become key to Ana's transformation during the adventure of a lifetime. The Oscars a retrospective study - The glitz and glamour of showbiz creates magic out of visions that are conceived through dreams, experiences, emotions, sweat and tears. The queen or crown jewel of any director's repertoire falls down to an accomplishment of an Oscar. There is immense debate as to whether the Oscars should be given this much of precedence, In my humble opinion its a NO. I think world cinema needs to be broken into categories,The English film industry , The Indian film industry ,The Chinese film industry e.t.c. it gives better clarity, I still believe Cannes,Berlin and Rome gives better indication of acting and directoral performances compared to the Oscars, where has BAFTA follows more of a similar pattern and also their are geniuses who have never won one like Hichcock and Nolan (fingers Crossed he wins tommorow) are good examples . Let's dig deep into the history of the Oscars, the Oscars are 97 years old,the idea was conceived by Louis Mayer (MGM), a small group of 36 people gathered on January 11th 1927 and kick started the Oscars and since then it has become the darling of all award ceremonies. Membership is generally invitees only. The Oscars continue to remain the dream of many artists, it will continue to be the film industry's crown that is worn in all its glory . 💫
