Our collective overuse, and misuse, of antibiotics has accelerated the natural ability of certain bacteria, sometimes called ‘superbugs’, to adapt and resist the effects of the drugs designed to kill them. Every year, around 79 000 people lose their lives due to resistant infections across 34 OECD and EU/EEA countries. This is more than twice the number of deaths recorded in 2020 due to tuberculosis, influenza and HIV/AIDS combined¹. As latest predictions show that by 2050, deaths associated with antimicrobial resistance (AMR) could rise significantly, the data stacks up to show how this ‘silent epidemic’ issue needs our attention now². 📝 Much of this gap, which has widened since the 1980s, is the consequence of emerging and re-emerging diseases, such as #HIV and #Aids, tuberculosis, #malaria, #Ebola, #hepatitis, #meningitis, sleeping sickness, #SARS and others. HIV and Aids, in particular, has affected Africa more than any other region on earth. ASH was supported by #USAID’s Bureau for Africa, and we implemented the program in partnership with three core Africa-based partners: African Population and Health Research Center (#APHRC); Khulisa Management Services; and Institut De Santé Et Développement of Dakar University, Senegal (#ISED). ASH also had collaborative partnerships with select African regional institutions, organizations, and associations. ASH explored emerging health issues, trends, and innovative solutions in key technical areas and contributed to increased commitment and action for improved health in the #African region. Important Information: We are proud to provide access to our quality medicines to healthcare systems and patients in both developing and emerging markets. #TajPharma’s medicines currently offers one of the industry’s largest and most diverse portfolios of anti-infectives and we’re a leader in sterile injectables and the emerging markets. Antibiotic resistance is the ability of bacteria to combat the action of one or more antibiotics. In Europe, the health impact of antibiotic-resistant infections is comparable to that of influenza, tuberculosis, and HIV combined. Every year, 35,000 EU/EEA citizens die from infections with antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Antibiotic resistance is a silent epidemic and threat to human health. Resistance screening can be performed to increase treatment success. Bosphore ABR Screening Kit helps healthcare professionals choose the most effective treatment method by screening antibiotic resistance genes. #EuropeanAntibioticAwarenessDay #AntibioticResistance #GlobalHealth #RhineGene

Today, the Philippines Country Coordinating Mechanism for the Global Fund Grant to end HIV and AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, approved the proposed revisions of its Governance Manual. Key changes on the manual includes : 1. Increase representation of key populations of the three diseases; 2. Adoption of Global Fund Policy on Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment; #PSEAH 3. Strengthened policy and processes on Conflict of Interest Managememt and Mitigation; and 3. Incorporated the four core principles of CCM leadership and an integrated performance framework. This was a long and uphill struggle, and definitely was not a stroll process. There were countless exchange of ideas and introspection. Yet, in the end, the PCCM is united by the common goal of good governance, transparency, and accountability. Now, we move forward.

At Akesis, our sample transport personnel are integral in ensuring the prompt and secure transport of specimens to support accurate diagnosis and timely treatment of infections such as HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis. Insecurity can be a challenge in some locations where we operate. To help ensure uninterrupted operations, we have found that stationing our personnel strategically in close proximity to our assigned facilities can help reduce turnaround time for sample analysis, ultimately helping patients receive the care they need when it matters most. #supplychain #globalhealth 📷 Akesis Sample Transport Team, Delta State, Nigeria

Since 2023, Tuberculosis (TB) has reclaimed its position as the world's deadliest infectious disease, surpassing Covid-19. The latest Global TB Report from the World Health Organization reveals that approximately 8.2 million people were newly diagnosed. This concerning development demands immediate action. With drug-resistant TB on the rise and remaining the leading cause of death among people living with HIV, it is crucial that we continue to invest in global health R&D. Our collective efforts are needed to find innovative solutions for the prevention and treatment of TB, ultimately aiming to #ChangeTheTrajectory of this disease in endemic countries. #UnionConf2024 #EndTB

NTDs are infectious diseases that mainly affect poor and marginalized communities in tropical regions. They receive less attention and funding compared to diseases like HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria. Elephantiasis and River Blindness are common examples. The misuse of antibiotics in managing secondary infections in NTD patients can contribute to antimicrobial resistance (AMR). This makes treatment more difficult and threatens global health efforts. At AMR CLUB FUTO, we are committed to raising awareness and advocating for responsible antimicrobial use while supporting the fight against NTDs. Together, we can break the cycle of neglect and promote better health for all! #endntdnow #amrclubfuto #amrawareness #worldntdday2025
