In today's digital world, expanding high-speed internet to every community lies in strategic collaborations. Public-private partnerships (P3s) are a key part of fostering connectivity in areas where access remains a challenge. The findings of a report on state broadband funding by Cornell University speak volumes about the significance of these partnerships, especially in rural areas. Here are a few of the highlights: 🌐 Local governments in P3s received more grants for connectivity (18% vs. 4% for solo applications). 🌐 P3 projects, mainly focusing on fiber optic infrastructure, notably targeted rural areas (27-34%). At RLM, we’re passionate about bringing high-speed internet to underserved communities often neglected by major providers. Public-private partnerships are a beacon of hope for these areas. With more P3s, we can ensure that every community has equal access to connectivity! Need help with your next #telecom project? The need for fast and reliable internet continues to grow as everything — from education, to business, to entertainment — expands virtually. Broadband resources such as fiber-optic internet have become an important infrastructure to meet the rising demand, especially in more rural communities. In the past few years, various fiber internet companies have entered the Upstate to bring high-speed services to the local market. #biznews #technews #internet #fiberopticinternet #fiberoptic

We have achieved 98% network availability in the Free State and Northern Cape as our network modernisation drive gathers pace. With resilience at the core, our network is powering through challenges and delivering enhanced connectivity. We've modernised over 50% of sites, improving throughput to 14.09 Mbps and reducing drop call rates to 0.2%. Rural areas, including Oppermansgronde, a southern Free State town, now enjoy 4G coverage, making a significant impact on connectivity during loadshedding. “While mobile has been driving digital inclusion, there remain connectivity gaps in areas not yet covered by a mobile broadband network. These uncovered communities – predominantly rural, poor and sparsely populated – are a key focus for us. We have extended 4G population coverage across Northern Cape and Free State to 96% and 99% respectively." ~ Machawe Victor Dlamini, Acting Regional GM for Central Region. Exciting plans ahead for 2024, as we aim to upgrade all sites to LTE and expand our network to underserved communities, bringing the benefits of a modern, connected life to all. #NetworkResilience #DigitalInclusion #DoingForTomorrowToday

Founder/CEO @ Brdy Broadband | Board Advisor @ Bigblu Broadband PLC | Bridging The Digital Divide With Satellite and Alternative Internet Solutions | Starlink Business | OneWeb/Eutelsat | Viasat
I found the recent ISPreview.co.uk article deeply concerning. The study performed by Strand Partners report highlights a critical issue: poor broadband and mobile connectivity is driving people away from rural areas of the UK. At Brdy, we believe that everyone, no matter where they live, deserves access to reliable and fast internet. Rural communities should not have to choose between staying connected and staying at home. Our mission is to provide seamless satellite broadband solutions that ensure connectivity, drive economic growth and improve the quality of life in these areas. This study underlines the urgency of our mission. By bringing innovative satellite technology to underserved regions, we can help reverse this trend and support vibrant, sustainable rural communities. Why are municipal broadband services a fast-growing trend in the US? Taking control of connectivity and keeping internet costs low for residents and businesses drives economic growth. According to this Route Fifty article, there's no one-size-fits-all model - "The approaches vary, according to the study. Some cities are building fiber and allowing companies to sell it as a service at low prices. Others, like Waterloo, Iowa, are treating it like a utility, similar to water or electricity." Public-private partnerships, in conjunction with federal, state, and local funding, can make building community fiber networks an achievable reality. Once in place the municipality can provide their own services (like Block Island) or the fiber can be opened up to commercial Internet providers for delivering broadband to homes and business. In either case costs are kept low and the ownership and management of the infrastructure is kept with the municipality, protecting against unforeseen rate hikes or uncontrollable outages. There's a reason that 42 local governments did this in just the past two years - and there's every reason to believe many more will follow.

We’re passionate about bridging the digital divide by bringing connectivity to underserved communities. Fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) networks aren't just about connectivity, they're catalysts for economic growth. 🌐 Here are some of the advantages of FTTP networks, as explained by the Fiber Broadband Association: 1️⃣ Faster Internet — FTTP consistently provides the fastest download and upload speeds compared to older technologies. 2️⃣ Increased Home Values — A recent Fiber Broadband Association study showed that having access to fiber broadband increases rental and property values in MDUs by 8% and 2.8%, respectively. 3️⃣ Community Development — By relying on nontraditional providers and public/private partnerships, local governments are using all-fiber networks to position their communities for tomorrow’s jobs and economic growth. 4️⃣ Economic Support — Fiber connectivity helps businesses grow and attracts new businesses to areas where it’s present, enabling local economies to flourish. By installing FTTP networks in rural areas that need it most, our team is not just connecting communities; we're building the foundation for economic prosperity. Join us in shaping a future where connectivity drives local economies forward! Need help with your next #telecom project?
