What better way to kick off #PrideMonth than celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community and the many contributions of leaders from across Greater Boston making change for a more equitable and inclusive Commonwealth?   Our team had a great time at the Boston Business Journal Business of Pride event last week, and we look forward to joining other festivities throughout the month (and year-round).    The event was also a reminder of how, each year, more companies are adopting communications (and marketing) campaigns to demonstrate allyship. The most successful of those are ones that reflect authentic actions to advance LGBTQIA+ priorities and celebrate team contributions. That's why we wanted to re-share these five things to keep in mind for successful campaigns that support LGBTQIA+ rights movements and promote self-affirmation, dignity, equality, and increased visibility of this community.   https://lnkd.in/e8HHGAXV

Here's how we're taking action: Advocating for LGBTQIA+ rights: We actively support initiatives that promote equality and acceptance for the LGBTQIA+ community. Educating ourselves: We're committed to ongoing learning about LGBTQIA+ experiences and identities. Challenging biases: We recognize that unconscious bias exists, and we're committed to creating a space where open dialogue and education can dismantle these biases. The plus in GBA + represents intersectionality. Why is that important? People with disabilities and LGBTQ2+ are the only equity groups that are inclusive of all equity groups. Resources are not shared equitably, and equity groups typically have less access to resources leading to higher rates of disabilities. Breaking down the barriers for these two groups also requires breaking down the barriers for all equity groups as they intersect. The path to inclusion has always been flexibility to include all who are different and this requires an intersectional lens.

There are two main reasons people tell us they contact an LGBT+ focussed adviser. Invariably, the first is that financial planning involves sharing personal information, and people want to ensure they do that with someone they are comfortable with. The second is that they want to speak with someone who will understand their lifestyle and unique needs. https://lnkd.in/dPQyPyfx

In the past two decades, Asian Americans have become one of the fastest growing racial or ethnic groups in the United States. The 2020 presidential election saw historic voter turnout by the AAPI electorate. AAPI voters had the highest growth of any racial group in 2020, with a 47% increase. The Pew Research Center affirms that Asian Americans have been the fastest-growing group of eligible voters in the United States over roughly the past two decades and since 2020. Their number has grown by 15%, or about 2 million eligible voters, in the past four years. That’s faster than the 3% growth rate for all eligible voters during that span. The data is clear, and it confirms what we’ve known. AAPI - or more inclusively, Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander voters are critical in the outcome of elections. As a very proud mother of a gay daughter, I’m celebrating Pride 2024 - it’s an opportunity to come together in love and friendship, as well as a moment to reflect on past struggles and ongoing efforts required to achieve true equality.
