My position is, and always will be, that everyone deserves the opportunity for employment and the chance to receive the supports they need to realise that potential. This weeks RFT of the new voluntary employment service for parents excites me. The consultation process, combined with recommendations from the Workforce Australia Inquiry leads to a program that is significant defined in structure with the opportunity for creative and innovative servicing solutions. I’m most excited that the requirements of: 🔘lived experience practitioners 🔘a qualified or highly demonstrated experienced workforce 🔘cultural sensitive service 🔘client - centred service are all fundamental non negotiables in the future delivery. It reads to be a program for voluntary parents, co-designed with voluntary parents and delivered but those that have walked through the journey of parenthood and employment. If delivered right, the pipeline effect on employment participation for parents has a promising future. Effectiveness of Services: Some programs may require consistent and regular engagement to be effective, which may not be achievable with part-time hours. Here is $65 million to help #CommunityColleges connect workers to #GoodJobs: Yesterday, DOL's Employment and Training Administration announced this year's Strengthening Community Colleges competition, which heavily focuses on creating Good Jobs using definitions in the Good Jobs Principles. This year's grants--ranging from $1.5 million to $5.75 million--require applicants demonstrate how their projects will build structures that connect workers to jobs that pay well and provide opportunities for advancement. Applicants also must address how they will improve outcomes for underserved populations. Additionally, successful projects will propose sustainable system changes at community colleges as well as sector strategies that include collaborations with employers, the federal workforce system, and secondary schools, among others.
