Zero Grant or Startup Funding, Zero Donations, but still striving to be consistent and work efficiently. Every day, when I reflect on the amazing work we're doing and the impact we've achieved with limited resources, I can only see the great efficiency and strong commitment of the entire team at Equicare Strategies. For instance, we uphold core values of excellence and creativity, and when you peruse our communication outputs, it reflects those attributes, even surpassing that of most 'big' non-profits. I understand that we may be limited in executing some programs or projects at the moment, but I believe that our commitment and efficiency in advancing equitable access to healthcare will take us to great heights someday. To end my little TED Talk, it's not about "how much" but "how well" you're able to use the little you have. So the big question is, "What do you have in your hand?" Trust me, you can still do great things from a small place!

CALLING IN MY NETWORK!! After the murder of George Floyd, so many companies and funders were grabbing every opportunity to throw money at nonprofits like Code2040 to prove that they "aren't racist." Well, it's been 4 years, and with the attempted erasure of DEI and initiatives associated with it- those companies have recoiled back into their racist and oppressive ways. Black and Brown folks continue to be underrepresented, dehumanized, and oppressed both in their daily livelihood and their work. Especially in tech spaces, we need Black and Brown people more than ever. Code2040 is committed to "figuring it out," the same way people like us are always expected to —but our mission remains the same. We are activating and mobilizing the largest racial equity community in tech. Our goal: to dismantle the structural barriers that keep our Black and Latinx emerging tech leaders from leading the innovation economy.
