Imagine this: potent smells, slippery textures, unexpected crunches, and a whirlwind of tastes—each element presenting a sensory challenge for young ones still exploring the world around them. Discovering the world of food is a sensory journey for children that shapes their relationship with nutrition and well-being for life. And if mealtime becomes a battlefield of preferences and aversions… Then, it's all about encouraging your child to interact with food in a playful and non-stressful way. From exploring different textures to embracing new tastes. Grace Children’s Therapy can support your child’s resilience through sensory exploration to help develop tolerance thresholds. And while we're on the topic of support, have you heard about our SOS Feeding Program? 🌟 At Grace Children’s Therapy we focus on increasing children’s comfort level by allowing them time to explore food and discover the many different properties of food with our one-of-kind GraceOT SOS program. With 10 years of experience in delivering the SOS feeding program within the Sydney Hills District, Grace Children’s Therapy leads the way when it comes to providing the SOS Approach to Feeding to the community. At Grace Children’s Therapy, we are dedicated to making mealtimes a happy experience.🌟 Ready to transform mealtime struggles into moments of discovery and growth? There are so many benefits in giving children controlled control over what they eat. 🙂 You might have heard of "Adult provides and child decides", but very few know how to apply it effectively to end mealtime fuss. Knowing how to do it in the early educational setting is tricky but essential to appropriately educate children about healthy eating and also to manage staff stress levels around feeding and mealtimes. Older people fear falling. To experience ‘a fall’ is embarrassing, frustrating and upsetting. Broken bones take time to heal. So does wounded self-confidence. So all these bits of good advice below are very helpful. Age-related challenges are no fun but we are all encouraged to reach out for the support and care we need. Hoping that more is on the way with #AgedCareReform including better #SupportInTheHome. #CouncilOfEldersAgedCare
On 26th August 2024, it was reported that Maggie Beer AO (Australian food icon and leader of the Maggie Beer’s Big Mission experiment which aims to change the food and dining experience in the aged care sector) had sustained minor bone fractures after a fall at home. NARI's Director of Clinical Gerontology, clinician researcher and falls prevention expert Associate Professor Frances Batchelor, has written an open letter to Maggie in support of her personal recovery and highlighting the issue of falls in older Australians. #FallsPrevention #Recovery #TranslationalResearch #MaggieBeerBigMission Maggie Beer Foundation
