You can tell Dr. Chadha thinks deeply about the implications of technology on patient care. We chatted: → Why CMIOs should get clinicians who pitch tech solutions to first illustrate the desired process on paper… because it often turns out the right solution isn’t even tech at all → Why sometimes we might actually want Friction instead of Automation in healthcare workflows → Why Patient Experience and Clinician Well-Being are the most important measures… and why too many KPIs (especially the wrong ones) is detrimental to healthcare → Why using money is generally a bad tactic to incentivize the right behaviours in healthcare … and much, much more! Earlier this week, I spoke with the Becker's Healthcare Podcast about the future of diagnostic testing and the push towards care in the home. I discussed my work on the board of Cue Health and what might be enabled by some of the innovations that the brilliant team there is pursuing. A few observations: -the push towards virtual and home-based care must be accompanied by innovations in diagnostic tools; otherwise the “convenience” we are claiming may not fully materialize and we may be adding wasteful, non-value added virtual care to facility-based diagnostic care. -home-based diagnostic tools that enable synchronous and asynchronous monitoring must be accompanied by changes in the healthcare delivery and practice model; new data collection is only helpful if someone is looking at that data and responding to it. -payers must keep an open mind about reimbursing new testing modalities—without this open mind, we may be inadevertantly slowing the diffusion of cost-saving innovation Take a listen and share what you think! https://lnkd.in/g3pHXH8W
