🛰 We've got news from the ARIEL mission! Planned to be launched in 2029, the #ArielESA mission will be the first ESA mission dedicated to study the nature, formation, and evolution of #Exoplanets. About 1000 exoplanets, ranging from rocky planets to gas giants, will be investigated and their atmosphere chemically analysed. This census will contribute to our understanding of the early stages of the formation of planets and their atmosphere, and their evolution over time. "By completing the first ground segment review, the mission has completed phase-B of the development, where the high-level requirements for the Ariel ground segment and mission operations are finalised," explains David Milligan, Head of the Ariel Mission Operations Unit (OPS-OAP). "This sets the overall architectural design of the #MissionOperations ground segment and comes shortly after the spacecraft preliminary design review, so that the compatibility between the spacecraft and ground segment is clearly defined. Following on from this comes the detailed subsystem design, on route to the later launch of the mission planned in 2029.” Once in orbit, ARIEL will be operated by the flight control team based at #ESOC. Learn more about ARIEL: https://lnkd.in/d5yGJqq
Now the ARIEL mission has passed its first major ground segment review! A big congratulations to our Mission Operations team at ESOC (and to our Science Operations colleagues at ESAC, and around Europe) for the smooth passage through the Ground Segment Requirements Review that completed this week. This is the second major review completed by our mission operations team this year, coming just a month after the end of the PLATO Ground Segment Design Review. ARIEL will launch a few years after PLATO and will be able to analyse the atmospheres of exoplanets around distant stars...

❓What is ADTS? APR? ATP? I guess I’ll spend some of the flight glancing through the 23-page AAC Clyde Space -document with the most common acronyms and abbreviations that one might encounter in the space industry. #spaceisawesome #makingitshort

Thank you very much Maria Willander, Jannica Niklasson and Signe isbäck for arranging the opportunity for me to take you and your Telenor colleagues on this journey. The journey - "From Peenemünde to Mars and even further away" - is not your everyday trip 😀 See and hear about space and humanity in the past, present, and future. From war efforts to spacecraft, interstellar objects, the near-miss with Earth in 2013, intelligent signals, water on Mars, when and why we'll return to the Moon, how far we've travelled, the most challenging (still unsolved) problems of living on another planet, and much more. What can some insight into space exploration bring to your staff? Spending about an hour instead of working? It is definitely something very different. It raises questions, sparks curiosity, and shows that others have solved problems that no one else has solved before. It could spur the imagination and, by extension, perhaps give a more open mind to work even more solution and team-oriented, more out-of-the-box, and focus innovatively in another dimension than today. P.S. This experience is delivered completely pro bono in a little bit more than 1 hour. It’s just great to spark interest for Space among more people. 🚀
Had the great pleasure of listening to Magnus Lundberg and his fantastic presentation at our annual Kick off. So impressed by the knowledge you have gathered! Thank you so much for sharing this epic and mind boggling journey about rockets and space 🪐🛸🚀
