As an admissions specialist for an exceptional primary Mental Health IOP/PHP treatment center, my primary goal is to help individuals find the best possible care for their needs. But the reality is, not every facility is the perfect fit for every patient. That’s why it’s essential for admissions teams across treatment centers to stay connected and build strong professional networks with each other. When our own facility may not be the right fit for someone’s unique needs, having trusted relationships with other admissions teams allows me to make thoughtful referrals on the front end. By working together, we ensure that the patient is placed in the right environment to receive the care they truly need. It’s not just about filling beds—it’s about the well-being and success of the individual and their families. This also includes collaborating and communicating with after care coordinators so they have a more intimate understanding of the care that will be provided for discharging clients. I know I’m not alone when I share incidents of multiple calls received from confused patients looking for outpatient treatment who have been provided a list of facilities to call by their aftercare planner with no clear idea of what they need. It’s just heartbreaking. I've also experienced solid and collaborative relationships with many treatment centers who are committed to putting their client first and supporting one another by fostering a network that shares resources, knowledge, and compassion...and I couldn’t be more grateful for them. Collaboration is not just beneficial for business—it’s critical for saving lives. We can do better. #PatientFirst #HealthcareCollaboration #AdmissionsDirectors #TreatmentCenters #MentalHealthCare

Crafting customized learning strategies to drive your team's success and boost organizational readiness.
I’m curious… how many workplaces provide verbal de-escalation or active shooter training to their employees? It's been a while since my corporate days but back then we did not. In today's world, where safety is paramount, it should now be standard practice to provide this on a regular, on-going, basis. De-escalation, active shooter, or both? Which does your workplace provide?
Healthcare workers are at disproportionate risk of workplace violence, and its prevalence is likely underestimated in literature because past studies have mostly used surveys that rely on recall of past events. A new study in a 50th anniversary issue of The Joint Commission Journal on Quality and Patient Safety overcomes this barrier by studying incident reports, finding that nurses and patient care assistants are exposed to 1.17 aggressive events per 40 hours worked. Transformation Director at Well Up North PCN and the Northumberland Medical Alliance - views are my own, but should be the views of far more powerful people!
At a time of uncertainty in primary care, what a lift it was to see my excellent First Contact Physio colleagues mentioned and referenced in the first ever inquiry into MSK health inequalities: https://lnkd.in/gBaGrctk Two of the key recommendations in the report come as a direct result of their involvement. It follows on from the team being featured in the NHS Confederation report https://lnkd.in/g8cfp7Gu Despite all the obvious stuff going on, we can still make a difference. Looking at the latest PCN Workforce Report it is therefore concerning to see how many PCNs still lack First Contact Physios, or have a headcount of just 1. #nhs #nhsengland #primarycare #pcns #msk #physiotherapy

Enhancing Behavioral Health and Staff Safety: The Role of RTLS Technology in Protecting Our Most Valuable Commodity
Two employees at Hampstead Hospital were recently hospitalized after a patient exhibited assaultive behaviors toward staff. The incident involved an adolescent inpatient, and the staff members, who regularly interact with patients, are expected to recover. While the care for other patients was not affected, this situation highlights the importance of Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS) in healthcare facilities. RTLS technology could have made a difference by providing immediate tracking and management of staff and patients within the hospital. By attaching RTLS badges or sensors to personnel, their movements could be monitored in real-time, allowing for quicker response and intervention during incidents like this. Additionally, RTLS could enhance safety protocols and streamline workflow, ultimately improving patient care and staff well-being. As healthcare organizations face increased behavioral health needs, integrating comprehensive support systems, both within institutions and in communities, becomes crucial.
