Today I learned that we age in bursts. And I learned that we can control and minimize these bursts withe the right diet, which will in turn help us to age more slowly. Actually, I already knew the second part and we have been using Vegan Street to help communicate this message for more than 25 years. All this time, we have been eating a diet rich in cruciferous vegetables, like broccoli, kale, cabbage, cauliflower, spinach and the like as well as whole grains, nuts, seeds, berries, beans and lentils, and this diet is also good for increasing physical and mental energy, fighting illness and diseases and building a powerful gut biome which helps us in so many ways. From our weekly radio on the 'Front Porch' on @WBOK : "Dr. Eric Griggs explains that our teeth are mainly designed for eating plant-based foods, suggesting that a diet mostly focused on plants is best for our health. Our teeth are flat and suited for grinding and tearing, similar to herbivores, rather than sharp and carnivorous like those of meat-eating animals. Dr. Griggs believes this anatomical evidence, along with the health benefits of plant-based diets, supports the idea of prioritizing real, unprocessed foods, especially plants, and being careful about portion sizes for good health. Including a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and beans in our diets can give us essential nutrients, fiber, and antioxidants that help our overall health and reduce the risk of chronic diseases. Dr. Griggs suggests that eating mostly plants and being moderate in our food intake can greatly improve our well-being." -with bEHR Health Systems, Inc. and Kwame Terra, MPH #GetCheckedGetFitGetMOVING #CommunityMedicineEverywhere 🌏 #WBOK #HealthLiteracy #HealthyEating #WholeFoods #PlantBasedDiet #NutrientRich #MindfulEating #PortionControl #Wellness #ChronicDiseasePrevention #BalancedDiet #HealthAndWellness
