https://lnkd.in/ek9CAk3h Yesterday, the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) published some immediate changes to the Stewardship Code, as well as a longer programme of work to revise the Code which will focus on five key areas: purpose, principles, proxy advisors, process and positioning. This broader thematic work will involve intensive stakeholder engagement towards the end of 2024. However, the immediate changes aim to start the process of streamlining corporate reporting for firms. To apply from the next application window (31 October 2024), the first tranche of amendments:   remove the requirement to disclose all ‘Context’ reporting expectations other than for new reports or material changes;  remove the requirement to disclose annually against ‘Activity’ and ‘Outcome’ reporting expectations for some principles;  explicitly allow use of content from previous reporting and cross-referencing of such reports;  set clear expectations of what is considered an ‘outcome’ for stewardship purposes; and  emphasise the ability to exercise reporting against Principles 10, collaborative engagement, and 11 escalation ‘where necessary’.

The latest signatories to the UK Stewardship Code have been announced and the Financial Reporting Council has also introduced five key changes to the code, which include: ⬛ Removing the requirement to annually disclose all ‘Context’ reporting expectations, except for new reports or material changes. ⬛ Removing the requirement to annually disclose against ’Activity‘ and ’Outcome‘ reporting expectations for some Principles. ⬛ Explicitly allowing use of content from previous reporting and cross-referencing of such reports. ⬛ Setting clear expectations of what is considered an ‘outcome’ for stewardship purposes. ⬛ Emphasising the ability to exercise reporting against Principles 10, collaborative engagement, and 11 escalation ‘where necessary’.
