It's great to see Freely rated so highly by Stuff.TV and it's only the beginning. In their closing comment they write "Once TV manufacturer support improves, it’ll become the obvious choice for any Brits wanting to blend broadcast telly with catch-up content." https://lnkd.in/eTFKxFV8 👀 Which coincidentally aligns with yesterdays breaking news that Amazon has just signed up to have Freely on their TV's and platform OS! https://lnkd.in/exv25DgF

📺 **The Future of Television: A Dying Medium or an Unstoppable Force?** As a TV industry expert with over three decades of experience, I've witnessed seismic shifts in the way we produce, distribute, and consume television content. Today, I want to challenge the status quo and spark a conversation about the future of our industry—because let's face it, the TV landscape is at a critical juncture. Is traditional television on its deathbed? The rise of streaming services, on-demand content, and mobile viewing habits seem to suggest so. The younger generation isn't tuning in to scheduled programming anymore; they're binge-watching entire seasons on platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. Advertisers are shifting their budgets to digital channels, leaving broadcasters scrambling to adapt. Yet, there's another side to this story. Television has a unique power to bring people together. Major live events, from the Super Bowl to political debates, still attract massive audiences, creating shared experiences that are hard to replicate online. Furthermore, linear TV has been quick to innovate, integrating social media interactions and offering premium on-demand services to keep viewers engaged. So, where do we go from here? The future of TV may lie in a hybrid model, blending the best of both worlds: the immediacy and communal experience of traditional broadcasts with the flexibility and personalization of streaming. TV networks must embrace technological advancements while preserving the core values that have defined them for decades. Let's not be so quick to write off television. Its ability to evolve and adapt might surprise us all. What do you think? Is TV evolving or dying? Share your thoughts below! #Television #MediaIndustry #FutureOfTV #Streaming #Broadcasting

DIRECTV receivers, clients, and DVRs support closed captioning. They have to. It's the law. However, they also connect to your TV with an HDMI cable. Unfortunately, since the basic HDMI spec doesn't support closed captioning, most pay-TV companies won't automatically include it. They're not alone - most other media and streaming boxes are this way too. #directv #hdtv #satellite
