I have also fallen into the comparison trap... 👇🏼 There was a time when I felt like I had to be at every hockey practice, even when I was exhausted, and I stayed up late with my kids making homemade valentines just because I thought that's what a "good mom" should do. But here’s the thing: those things didn't bring me joy. In this new chapter of my life, I’ve learned to let go. If something doesn’t spark joy, I find ways to delegate or simply ask for help. Why do I have a coach? Something I got asked last night and asked often... You have to look around... The top Rugby, NFL, Basketball, EVERY athlete and team for that matter have coaches. Not because they need to be better at the sport most of the time. Because they need someone to keep them mentally fit, on track and be that 1% better 📈 They need someone who is going to challenge them, to take them to a level they have never been. I’ve had 3 physique coaches in my bodybuilding journey. I’ve learned so much from each coach and because of them I’ve been able to better myself and this has helped me build the coaching businesses I have today. What has each coach given me❔ Accountability, structure, clarity, knowledge and support. And maybe the most important one for me... I get in my head a lot, my coach keeps me sane... He maps everything out and he keeps me grounded 🙏 EVERYONE is unique and as a coach, my team all have different needs. Some need me to be more hands-on, some need me to be a drill sergeant, but with EVERYONE I work with, I need to build a relationship with them. I love the Olympics. I love the strength, grit, tenacity, and emotion. Last night, watching the women’s all-around, I heard the commentator mention the mental work that goes into the sport. Gymnasts don’t just train their bodies—they train their minds, too. They develop a mental routine that matches their physical one, to keep the doubts at bay during their routine. That practice can be a game-changer, especially when facing imposter syndrome in our careers. Just like gymnasts, we can use positive self-talk to push through challenging assignments and new roles.
