What do you know about Fishermans Bend? Located on the outskirts of Melbourne’s CBD, it’s a crucial part of the city’s development as Australia’s largest urban renewal precinct. This area has the potential to significantly contribute to Melbourne’s economic growth.  The Department of Transport and Planning has published a draft Development Contributions Plan (DCP) to support over 120 ‘essential infrastructure’ projects in Fishermans Bend, covering open spaces, streets, community hubs, and flood mitigation.  The Committee welcomes the draft DCP and the Open Space Uplift (OSU) incentive. Our submission to the consultation highlights that consideration of both ‘essential’ and ‘catalytic’ infrastructure is required, including integrated planning, public transport, an innovation ecosystem, and the protection of the Port of Melbourne’s operations.  These key considerations for the successful implementation of a Fishermans Bend initiative will shape a prosperous future for the precinct.  Read our Fishermans Bend submission here: https://lnkd.in/e94TW7Kp #melbourne #fishermansbend

Engineered Wetlands! Normally I am a bit down on what's going down in Florida, but not this time. Really tremendous work going on in repairing, improving, augmenting, preserving the everglades. Fantastic. There is a bit of a theme emerging in some of my posts, I call it 'Terraforming Terra'. Accepting that we as humans ARE directly wrecking the ecosystem, and further that it is within our power to repair, improve and sustain it instead. Please join me in recognizing that we ALL need to evolve our thinking, our interactions with nature, our societies, and our business practices to make room for future generations of all forms of life. Future life does not consume today, does not speak today, and does not invest today, however, future generations are the ULTIMATE stakeholders. Sustain the future, we must. And, no, those who die with the most toys do not win, they just doom all of us with their childish antics.
