Conducting a Workplace Investigation? Follow These Best Practices...⤵️ ⚖️My law firm, Lipp Law, regularly handles workplace investigations. 🔎A workplace investigation typically occurs because an employee has done something (or been accused of doing something) inappropriate, and the company needs to discover what exactly happened, and the appropriate next steps. ❌The wrongful behavior can include: threats, violence, odd behavior, stalking, harassment, assault, drug use, bullying, stealing, financial misdeeds, discrimination, policy violations, or the like. Here are 5 best practices to follow, below. 1️⃣ Follow Your Employment Policies 2️⃣ Interview Relevant Witnesses -Don't forget the Claimant and the Accused 3️⃣ Ensure Confidentiality 4️⃣ Conduct a Timely Investigation -Justice Delayed is Justice Denied 5️⃣ Preserve + Review Relevant Evidence -Documents, Emails, Texts, Recordings, Videos, Etc. 💗Like this post if it was helpful to you, and comment below what I missed. "At its core, Muldrow’s case challenges the notion of what workplace actions an employee can fight in court. Thus, the decision could determine the scope of actions that Title VII covers. This could influence how businesses formulate long-term human resources strategies and staffing decisions, emphasizing the need for employers to stay agile, informed, and ready to adapt. The Supreme Court scheduled oral argument for Muldrow v. City of St. Louis, Missouri on December 6, 2023. We may not get a decision until April or May 2024. In the meantime, cautious employers will review these kinds of transfer and scheduling decisions with an eye to defending them in court." #TitleVII #employmenttrends #employmentlaw #litigation #employeerelations
