One the best explanation and most informed explanations that I have heard on the route through pressurised hydogren through to liquid hydrogen. Well done to Cranfield Aerospace Solutions. Aviation is here to stay, we are not going to go back years in terms of reliance on surface transport. We are now part of connected world around which our entire economies rely. Protecting the planet has to be done with considered innovation, not sticking our head in the sand and acting like luddites.
The advantages of hydrogen-powered aircraft: Cranfield Aerospace Solutions presents the latest video in our engineering and technology series, focusing on the advantages of hydrogen-powered aircraft. Our Chief Strategy Officer Jenny Kavanagh dives into the benefits of hydrogen as a fuel source and explains why starting with gaseous hydrogen is crucial for entry-level applications, while liquid hydrogen holds the key to truly decarbonising aviation. Watch the video to find out why starting small is key to driving regulations required to understand how to use hydrogen as an aviation fuel in an airport, as well as in maintenance facilities and also in airline operations. #hydrogen #gaseoushydrogen #liquidhydrogen #aviation #hydrogenaviation #technology #futureflight #cleanerskies #zeroemissions #engineering #cranfieldaerospace

Günther Schullerer, Director Engineering MT Aerospace AG, gave exclusive insights into opportunities and related risks to transfer material & processes solutions from #space into #aviation in the field of #hydrogen propulsion today. In particular, the importance of the required long-term structural properties was emphasised, which must be fulfilled for applications in the non-space sector with significantly longer lifetimes. This point has to be considered critical and may lead to a different choice of materials in aviation. It was an exciting panel discussion with esteemed colleagues and specialists Jessrang Mathias Matthias Miermeister Barnaby Law Ulrike van den Brande at ILA future lab stage. Now we are curious to see what the next #ILA24 day has in store for us. #electricpropulsion #rocketscience #sustainability

Cranfield Aerospace Solutions September 2023 companies house filings https://lnkd.in/eqPU7GNZ stated first flight will be in 2025. However, in October 2023 a flight global article on CAeS states first flight test would be in 2024 https://lnkd.in/gcWCVqih . This announcement funding delayed Fresson seems tenuous as the delay to 2025 had been declared 9 months earlier. Companies house statement was contradicting the press release. "With the imminent closure of a Series B funding round allowing CAeS to purchase testing services and specialist equipment, ground and flight tests should occur within the year". Therefore, it seems the first flight set for 2025 and then STC approval in 2026. To date, these plans do not find the related counterpart in the company filing history. These plans are very very ambitious considering they are testing a totally new powertrain. It is worth considering the timelines of the press releases/articles featuring Cranfield Aerospace Solutions: In 2021 they said it would fly in 2022? https://lnkd.in/egf8jSCc Then in early 2023? https://lnkd.in/eNxJE33X Then in flight late 2023? https://lnkd.in/e4zddc_D Then 2024? https://lnkd.in/gcWCVqih This article now delayed from 2024 to 2025 https://lnkd.in/eZUEYYBJ. Project timeline is questionable. Shareholders dilution to continue.
"Cranfield Aerospace Solutions is moving closer to the inaugural airborne test of its hydrogen powertrain system, CEO Paul Hutton explained to FINN (Farnborough International News Network), with the imminent closure of a Series B funding round to power the British company through flight testing and beyond." Great article by Charlotte Bailey for FINN this week covering our final design of our hydrogen-powered Britten-Norman demonstrator aircraft, the technical challenges we've solved and our future plans to adapt and scale our hydrogen propulsion technology.
