My cool friends, how shall we classify "Cool Friends"? I have come across this colourful Chupa Chups "Cool Friends" backpack in a duty-free shop. Well, we can call it a backpack (heading 42.02) for it has an interior storage compartment big enough to hold 16 Chupa Chups lollipops. The compartment closes with a zipper. The backpack has two straps for it to be worn over the shoulders. Yet we can also see it as a toy (heading 95.03), as it has all the characteristics of a stuffed toy figure of textile representing the character of pink dinosaur. It can be used as a backpack too, but the essential character is arguably provided by the toy. And what about the 16 Chupa Chups lollipops (heading 17.04) placed inside the backpack/toy and presented together with it? If the container holding the lollipops is a toy, then Note 4 to Chapter 95 will help us classify the toy and the lollipops together. In that case, if we conclude that the combination of the lollipops and the toy has the essential character of a toy, then Cool Friends will go to heading 95.03. But what if we believe that Cool Friends is not a toy but a backpack with lollipops? There appears to be no reasons to apply GIR 3 here to classify them together as a single product, and then separate classification for the backpack and the lollipops seems inevitable. Keep your eyes out for the beautiful cinnabar moth this summer 👀 Often mistaken for a butterfly, the cinnabar moth can be seen flying in the day and night with its striking black and red wings. Look for the two red spots and the long red bar on it's forewings which can distinguish it from the similar burnet moths. Later in the summer you might be able to see their yellow and black caterpillars feasting on ragwort plants. The Bumphead (Bolbometopon Muricatum) is the largest of the parrotfishes at 130 cm in length and weighing up to 46 kg. They are distinguished by beak-like teeth plates only partially covered by fleshy lips. Males and females look the same in this species. The juveniles start out a greenish brown colour with 5 bands of whitish spots arrayed vertically along their body. As the adults mature they develop a pronounced bump on their vertical head profile. When fully grown they range from olive or bluish-green to slate grey, with a yellowish to pink blaze down the front of their face. I saw maybe 50-75 of them at the same place! They look very small on this video, but in real the were like at least 100 cm each. Over the past decade, there has been a shocking increase in rhino poaching. In 2011, in South Africa alone, 448 rhino were poached for their horns. By 2014, this increased to 1,215. Thankfully, since then, poaching has declined, totalling 451 rhinos poached in 2021. Yet, these numbers are still horrific. And they indicate the urgent need for both proactive and preventative measures to curtail the crisis. At a first glance, it would appear that by simply removing the horn the problem is solved; rhinos should be worthless to poachers. However, the issue is a lot more complex. Dehorning rhinos. The recent assassination attempt reminds me of the profound words of the late Rosh HaYeshiva, Rabbi Noah Weinberg, of blessed memory. He used to say, “To truly live, one must know what he is willing to die for.” This means that having clarity about what is ultimately important in life allows us to build our lives around our core values. This clarity infuses life with purpose and vitality. But how do we determine what truly matters? Deep down, we already know. We access that knowledge by thinking about what we would like inscribed on our tombstone. We instinctively realize that the pursuits consuming most of our time are not what we would choose to be remembered for. The world’s wealthiest individuals won’t boast about making billions or living in luxury on their tombstones. Even an Olympic gold medalist would find "winning a gold medal" insufficient for a tombstone. There must be something deeper. True achievements are expressions of timeless ideals like honesty, kindness, fighting evil, fighting for freedom, the pursuit of truth, integrity, compassion, courage, justice, selflessness, perseverance, and humility. Since these are the things that truly matter, we must weave them into our daily routines and give them expression in those challenging moments of daily living.
