Please consider joining us Monday evening (June 10, 5–7 p.m.) at Merriment Social for a big conversation about the performing arts in Milwaukee. Complimentary appetizers and cash bar. Technically, this is about policy, but it's also about what is needed to sustain a vibrant arts community. Elaine Schmidt and I co-researched and co-authored a Wisconsin Policy Forum report with WPF President Rob Henken (see link to the report, Curtain Time, within the below invitation). The report is the impetus for the event. It explores the sector's sustainability, looks at critical decisions on the horizon, and highlights what's working in other cities. Please register through the link below so the WPF has a headcount. #PerformingArts #Nonprofit #Philanthropy #WisconsinPolicyForum

Great to be back again serving as emcee at the 17th Annual Hearts of Texas Luncheon, honoring Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, Randy Bowman, Community Partners of Dallas and the Lewisville ISD. Volunteerism transforms lives! Thanks to Volunteer Now CEO, Rachel Currie Triska, for inspiring her incredible team. Americans gave 4.1 billion hours of service to humanity as volunteers last year. There's nothing more impactful than making a difference in the lives of those who need it most. As I share in my keynote address: "Live your life as a go-getter, yet, forever share your life as a go-giver."

Happy Black History Month! Every February, people across Canada participate in Black History Month events and festivities that honour the legacy of Black people in Canada and their communities. For 16 years, TD has been supporting Black History Month events and initiatives across North America. Through the TD Ready Commitment, TD continues to work to address systemic inequities in funding Black-led and Black-serving non-profit organizations. This year, we are supporting over 40 initiatives across the Canadian footprint through the TD Ready Commitment in several regions. Alongside Black History Month initiatives, we also support year-round, Black-led organizations. In 2023 alone, TD invested over $8MM in Black-led, Black-serving, and Black-focused (B3) organizations across Canada. Learn more about TD’s commitment in action and how we work with Black communities to build a more inclusive future.

Transformative Business Coach | Guiding Leaders Through Changes to Build Inclusive, Goal-Driven Cultures | Fostering Cooperation & Strategic Focus for Sustainable Success
During a meeting with my team on Friday afternoon, we discussed Black History Month and whether we should do anything special for it. I asked the question, why should we, when all our activities and services are geared towards everyone, especially young people and families from grassroots communities? Our services centre on the provision of platforms to access accessible music lessons and raise aspirations. Don’t get me wrong. I understand the principle and the need to celebrate black leaders. However, do we need to wait until October in the UK to celebrate our leaders? Do those of us leading with agility and by example do so because we are waiting for October’s recognition? How are you leading your team from January to December? #leader #leadingwithagility #charity

Reflections of a Black [Queer] Male Leader in the Nonprofit Sector "Within the tapestry of leadership across the nonprofit sector, the threads representing Black male leaders are few and far between. The fabric is slowly changing, evolving to reflect the diversity of the communities nonprofits aim to serve, but there is still much work to be done. As one of these leaders, my journey to this position is as much a story of perseverance and dedication as it is a reflection of the sector’s gradual shifting in leadership..."
