The best way to stand out is to stand down. Ie. Don't innovate alone. Talk to your customers and build based on their wants and needs. Being innovative is high risk. Instead, look to minimize your areas of innovation by studying your ideal customer. When you innovate within the parameters of customer pain points, you not only reduce the risk your idea is wrong but you increase the chances it's bang-on. Remember, differentiating isn't just about being different; it's about being different in a relevant & resonant way - a way that matters to your target audience.
