💡 Traditional one-off trainings can lack relevance, overwhelm with information, and offer little follow-up. Embedded professional development (PD), integrated into daily routines, addresses these issues by ensuring continuous, contextual, and collaborative learning. 🤔 Why Traditional Trainings Can Fall Short: ❓ Lack of Context: Not tailored to specific classroom challenges. ❓ Overload: Too much information to retain. ❓ Little Follow-Up: Initial enthusiasm fades quickly. 🔍 Benefits of Embedded PD: ✅ Contextual Application: Apply new strategies directly in classrooms. ✅ Continuous Learning: Ensures constant improvement. ✅ Collaborative Environment: Sharing best practices. ✅ Immediate Feedback: Real-time adjustments and improvements. ✅ Sustainable Improvement: Promotes lasting changes through gradual progress. To foster a culture of continuous professional development (CPD) for educators - Highlight the focus of CPD as vital to staying up-to-date with recent discoveries, guidelines, and technologies. Continuous learning ensures that teachers are a step ahead of the dynamic nature of learning through the ability to continuously adapt to curriculum, the comparative population of student learners, and pedagogical ideas. - A concerted effort in developing a culture of CPD by creating an environment of learning opportunities for educators, time for learning, specifying means of implementation, and resources to enhance successful CPD, as well as providing support to educators. This support may be in the form of financing workshops and seminars, access to courses on the Internet or time given to collaborative learning and reflection. - Having educators engage in collaborative learning communities can be incredibly effective. Not only do these communities serve as a place for educators to exchange teachings, but they also allow them to explore and experiment with different methods together. - Be aware that there are differences between educators who want to learn their lesson plans and others who just want to brush up on their existing ones. The provision of a chance for educators to design personal professional development plans informed by their interests and development priorities is often quite efficient. - Engaging in mentorship and coaching programmes serves as effective tools for helping pedagogy employees advance in their personal development. Established practitioners could act as mentors to mostly novice teachers, guiding them through their professional development pathway. - Integrating technology - If we consider the recent examination of the importance of using technology in the learning process, CPD should include suggestions on how to apply technology in the classroom rightly. Teachers also need chances to develop their levels of digital literacy and educational technology tools competence. - Evaluation and feedback from the ongoing professional development activities for educators are valuable and are done as a regular thing. Useful things can be said by administrators, peers, and students as constructive feedback that is for continuous improvement. - Incentives and appreciation from educators who participate in professional development activities can be used as a means of establishing a culture that upholds constant learning as a virtue. - Lifelong Learning Mindset: If educators accept a lifelong learning disposition, they may embrace CPD as an ongoing feature of their professional career. On the whole, sustaining the culture of self-development of teachers requires a comprehensive approach and entails joint efforts and resources through positive examples and support given to all participants in the educational system. #Teachersgrowthanddevelopment #TeacherActive #Actiontutoring #Leadersineducation

Empowering Educators for Competency-Based Learning 📚 In today's fast-evolving education landscape, competency-based learning (CBL) is becoming a key approach to ensuring students not only grasp concepts but also develop real-world skills. Professional Development vs. Professional Learning Navigating professional development and professional learning is crucial for educators dedicated to enhancing their teaching methodologies. Distinguishing between the two is pivotal in optimizing the growth of educational teams. Professional development often involves structured activities like workshops, conferences, or courses led by field experts aiming to acquire new skills or knowledge. On the contrary, professional learning is an informal, continuous process focused on self-directed study, collaborative efforts with peers, and seeking feedback from mentors. Research emphasizes key components for effective professional learning, including specific content and standards, agency, job-embedded elements, peer collaboration, coaching, continuity, sustainability, and alignment with school goals. Enter the Classroom Education Plan (CEP), a comprehensive solution aligning with these components, offering K-6 educators access to job-embedded professional learning, collaborative Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), and research-enriched classroom strategies. This saves valuable time and resources and empowers educators to enhance core instruction effectively. In the face of teacher shortages and ongoing classroom challenges, optimizing every minute for educators is imperative. The CEP ensures that the designated time for professional development is filled with high-quality, impactful professional learning, providing teachers with the tools and support needed to make a substantial difference in their students' lives. #elevatelearning #professionallearning #professionaldevelopment #elementaryeducation

Director at Curio Class | Professional Scrum Trainer | Lead Scrum Master | Co-author of Workplace Learning for Humans
Imed Bouchrika, PhD has written a great summary on how to apply adult learning theory to corporate learning. If you want your team or department to learn effectively, you need to follow 👇these👇 principles. These are his key points: - Autonomy "An effective corporate training program should function a lot like a workshop and less like a droning lecture inside a classroom. Thus, ample time should be allotted to allow adult learners to absorb information and examine and discuss it with one another." - Collaboration "Adults often need a reason to learn before deciding to participate in learning programs, and they like to be involved in every stage of the learning process. This is why corporate training programs should be based on the valid needs of employees, and lectures and activities should be centered around real work experiences." - Enablement and Self-Direction "Adult learners have a deeper need to be self-directing. They prefer to have independence and control over their life decisions." - Learning Benefits "Adults spend a considerable amount of time and energy weighing the costs and benefits of a learning program. Before actively engaging in the learning process, adults need an important reason for continuing education, as well as an accessible and convenient mode of learning." You can find the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eU5gyXgY It's worth a read! #learning #research #workplacelearning

Good professional development or professional learning for teachers needs to pay attention to both the "How" and the "What." A school administrative team can offer the best content but, if not delivered in a manner that resonates with best practice, the PL can fall flat. Similarly, the best process without good content has the potential to be viewed as a waste of precious time. #CatholicSchools #ProfessionalDevelopment
