Early detection is important. Know your numbers ... not only in business - but in your own life.
My family celebrate what would have been my sister Katrina Cunnane’s 38th birthday today. ‘Trina left us aged 35, having fought cancer with every ounce of energy she had for several years. Katrina took every opportunity to get the message out, and now on her behalf I try to do the same. If you’ve avoided following up on a cancer or health screening, use today to book it. Ask the people close to you if they’re up to date. It’s uncomfortable, but it’s worthwhile. A fighter through to her very last day on earth, a joker throughout the darkest of times, a beautiful and caring sister, auntie, daughter and friend. ‘Trina, what I wouldn’t give to spend today with you. All my love xo.

Can we ask for your help ? We need to decide on a sub title by Friday. When we think of childhood cancer, we immediately have an image, a picture in our heads. Some don't make it 🙏 but a growing number do and life navigating adulthood can be challenging, lonely, unpredictable and hard to imagine. It can also be enlightening for both the young survivor and anyone lucky enough to be in their world. I'm one of those lucky ones and together with a group of inspiring young survivors we've written a book to raise awareness of the importance of connection (particularly after being a young "warrior"). It's been eight years in the making and an American publisher has picked it up and offered to support our cause. ❤️ The title is "Tumour Me" (Tumor Me in American English) and we're struggling to make a final decision on the sub title so thought we'd put it out on Linked in to help us decide. Option 1: Tumour Me: Stories of life, love and belonging Option 2: Tumour Me: Life after the all clear Option 3: Tumour Me: Stories of life after cure Which one works better for you?

Cancer: An Impact Beyond the Patient and a Journey in Search of Hope. In our journey with cancer, I've learned that this disease doesn't just affect the individual diagnosed with it; it deeply impacts the entire family. I vividly remember the painful moment in 2019 when we learned of my mother's diagnosis with rectal cancer. The shock, worry, and sorrow didn't just affect her; it had a significant psychological impact on us, her family. Time was a significant factor in our challenge. This led to searching for various medical opinions and being forced to make difficult decisions as part of our journey. I remember reaching out to several of my Saudi colleagues from different medical regions. All of them provided us with the same medical opinion. But cancer's impact did not end there; this year brought an even more profound challenge when my father was diagnosed with liver cancer. Despite my struggles and hopes, his heartbreaking loss deeply affected our family life and left an irreplaceable void. His memory continues to inspire my journey and strengthens my resolve in the fight against this disease. In my quest to understand this disease and find potential treatments, I made sure to attend conferences and lectures related to cancer to stay informed about the latest developments in treatment. Moreover, I connected with many researchers specializing in cancer, and the collaboration I received from officials at the Oxford University Botanic Garden, such as Chris Thorogood was noteworthy. He introduced me to several plants with medicinal properties that could contribute to the journey of finding a cure for cancer. Through this post, I want to emphasize the importance of scientific research and international cooperation in the fight against cancer. We need to continue our research to find effective and safe treatments. Let's support each other and share our experiences to face this challenge together. #Cancer #Health #Support #Awareness #scientificresearch

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of my father's passing this night, after a brave battle with liver cancer. He was a remarkable man, whose strength, resilience, and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him. Throughout his struggle, he exemplified courage and grace, leaving us with memories that we will forever cherish. As we navigate through this difficult time, we find solace in the love and lessons he imparted on us. I kindly ask for your prayers for his soul. May he rest in peace and be granted eternal tranquility.

Here's an inspiring part of my message given last weekend at the Isla Mae Summer Retreat in Jacksonville, FL. I love peaking to women who are overcoming a variety of challenges in life. I am so grateful for the opportunity to minister while living with cancer. Here are some reflection questions that went with this portion of my talk: We’re so focused on the future that we don’t realize that today was what we prayed for years ago. What did you wish for as a little girl when you pictured your future? What was your 10-year plan when you were 25? How have things turned out? What do you want to happen in the next 20 years?? How are you investing your time while you wait for your prayers to be answered?

Enjoy life till it lasts I love it when she says” I have a 2% chance of survival but 2% is not zero percent, 2 % is something and I wish people knew how amazing it is. “It’s Okay it’s okay it’s okay it’s okay if you’re lost. We’re all a little lost and it’s all right”. The cancer survivor captured the hearts of AGT viewers with her story and audition of her original song, "It's OK." Unfortunately, Jane had to withdraw to focus on her health and she was unable to continue competing on season 16 of America's Got Talent. After a four-year battle with cancer, America's Got Talent Contestant Jane "Nightbirde" Marczewski died on February 19, 2022. RIP Jane....it's Okay Watch it till the end

Thank you for sharing this incredible story. It truly is a powerful and moving testament to the indomitable spirit of the human being. Sometimes, getting lost can lead us to unexpected places and help us unearth our inner strength. It's in those moments of uncertainty that we often discover our true potential. In both life and business, it's important to remember that setbacks and challenges are not signs of failure, but rather opportunities for growth and self-discovery. Embracing the unknown can lead to remarkable journeys and extraordinary achievements. As professionals, we must always encourage each other to persevere through difficult times and remind ourselves that it's okay to be lost sometimes. It is during these moments that we often find our greatest strengths and uncover new paths towards success. Thank you again for sharing this inspiring story. It serves as a reminder to stay resilient, embrace uncertainty, and never underestimate the power of an indomitable spirit.
