Did you know that only 2% of global charitable giving supports environmental organisations, as highlighted by the ClimateWorks Foundation? Creative Zero will be making a contribution to a grassroots environmental organisation each month of 2024, and will be amplifying the efforts of these small yet impactful groups. For January we donated £100 (which was matched by Aviva) to POWER STATION! POWER STATION is transforming a Walthamstow residential street into a power plant by putting solar panels on the roofs. Concerns about rising living costs and a commitment to reducing fossil fuel use drove this community initiative. This creative endeavour embraces a holistic approach to redefine what a neighbourhood can be through their "Every Street a Power Station" plan. Their impact has even extended to a local primary school, where solar panels have also been installed. Can you join us on this journey to support the planet? Can you donate something to an environmental group? Maybe you can ask your employees to choose the group that gets your donation each month. We know our collective contributions can make a lasting impact. If you join us, let us know! Stay tuned for updates on our February donation. Curious to learn more about this inspiring initiative? Dive into their story and show your support: https://lnkd.in/erPMqhAN Together, let's continue making a positive impact! 🌟 #CharityCampaign #EnvironmentalImpact #CharityImpact #PowerStationInitiative #Grassroots #ClimateCrisis #EnvironmentalFunding #EveryLittleHelps

Quick (and informative) read by Carter Harms! Grid-enhancing technologies (#GETs) and #advancedconductors are cost effective tools to increase grid capacity at a time where demand continues to grow!
My colleague Carter Harms out today with a piece on how states are leveraging advanced transmission technologies to achieve efficiency, resiliency and cost savings. Did you know…. Montana was one of the first states to promote the use of ATTs with a 2023 bill that provides incentives for utilities to deploy advanced reconductors. And so far in 2024, Arizona, Maine, Minnesota, New York, and Virginia have passed bills to boost ATT deployment, with California still considering legislation. Read more 👇🏼The Pew Charitable Trusts

SaveLBI.Org www.savelbi.org Please, consider joining this very good cause for the island, it's residents and it's businesses as prices are sure to escalate. But, to me, that is only the symptom to the problem. The long term environmental and sustainable impact these installation of these turbines can have to our eastern ecosystem, will be devastating because it's forever. And it is now evident that the mapping of the ocean floor did in fact confuse and thus kill ocean life. Much of this affected the local whales that migrate by LBI. Especially near 5th street. Also dolphins and other ocean life was affected. In Spring Lake, NJ a rare Beaked Whale washed ashore. Please at least research what SaveLBI is doing and why it is important. Please see note below from group, friend and President, below: Dear supporters, The crowds may be dwindling, but our work effort to protect the Island and the ocean is not. Now that the Atlantic Shores project off Long Beach Island (LBI) has been federally approved we are intensely engaged in lawsuit preparation and plan to file a series of complaints within the next two months. We have also been trying to reach persons and businesses in other parts of the State who may not realize that even if they are not directly affected by the shore impact of this project, they will be affected in their pocketbooks, particularly in their electric bills. Regarding those bills, in the past year Statewide average residential electricity rates increased by about 15 percent. This is just the beginning. The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) has guaranteed higher prices for two new offshore wind projects and is now considering a more highly subsidized price for the Atlantic Shores project. Together this will increase residential bills by another 23 percent, commercial bills by 27 percent and industrial bills by 30 percent. For the full offshore wind program, we expect these increases to almost double. In a competitive world, this is economic suicide and must be moderated. Given all the other problems with the Atlantic Shores project as described in the attached letter sent to all our State and federal representatives, the obvious smart thing for the BPU to do is to not approve the Atlantic Shores project. We urge you to send that message to the BPU, and to our elected representatives more inland and north of LBI. We continue to raise funds to support our legal effort regarding this project though our website, www.savelbi.org. In that regard, we invite you to be a sponsor or foursome for our SaveLBI Golf Classic on September 24, 2024 at the LBI National Golf & Resort, 99 Golf Road, in Little Egg Harbor. Please see the link below and contact us with any questions. https://lnkd.in/eNjt8NxU We hope to see you there and appreciate all you do for the cause! Bob Stern, President Save LBI

MethaneSAT is an exceptional project, a series of satellites that will find and measure methane emissions with unparalleled precision – including emissions that other satellites can’t see. The mission objective is to motivate and enable the reduction of methane emissions from the global oil and gas sector by 45% by 2025, and 70% by 2030. The first satellite is scheduled to be launched into orbit next month and it will circle the globe 15 times a day, providing the first truly detailed global picture of methane emissions. #oilandgasindustry #methaneemissions #methanereduction #satellite #oilandgassector #decarbonsation https://lnkd.in/deC93Ah4

With the draft Scope and Intent for the 2027 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) circulating, I have been reflecting on one of the less discussed dimensions of what went pear-shaped about the 2024 appeals process: the unmitigated escape hatch for commercial and multifamily building designers to include less efficiency and more low-quality offsite renewables in their designs. The new Scope and Intent, while it generally forswears carbon emission reduction measures, will not remove this escape hatch. It makes one wonder how and whether progressively lower energy use will really be achieved in future model codes. More here - https://lnkd.in/e9mnmvCm
