Black Citizen #changemaker project #2 - What's a project you would like to see come to life and what do you hope to accomplish? Here's how I answered that question: My mission is to "break bread" with Black people and discuss the importance of financial planning. The goal is to help Black people understand why they need to have a financial plan that's unique to their situation. The funds from this grant will be used to host a lunch, brunch or dinner event at a Black owned establishment in the Bay Area. Just imagine if Black people could hang out, break some bread, and casually talk about money. That’s what Breaking Bread with Mr. #BuildWealth is going to accomplish. I didn't completely stick to my initial plans. It was quite broad and I needed to narrow my focus. I ended up deciding on breaking bread with parents of young children under the age of 5. I hosted an intimate lunch event for those parents at Spaceoux (TiYanna L. Smith, MPA's property - hit her up for more details), ordered food from Sweet Fingers Jamaican restaurant and hired Gregory Collins for the media production. Having my daughter changed how I was doing my financial planning business. I know that I'll blink and she'll be driving, then on her way out into the real world. So, starting a financial plan for her right from the jump was something I knew most parents were not doing. I wanted to educate parents on how they could set up a financial game plan for their babies and I laid out a simple strategy they (or any parent) could put into action. 3 years ago I earned my first 2 dollars. 💲 Not exactly a baller move, but hey, it was a start! I still remember the night I saw the payment in my e-wallet and I was over the moon, “GOD! I earned this”  It was equivalent to a satisfied client singing your praises in a testimonial – a small validation that your hard work is making a difference.  It was a pivotal moment, a tiny spark that ignited a fire within me. 🌟 Why was this such a big deal? Let's break it down 📌 Stepping Outside My Comfort Zone: This tiny win pushed me to explore new avenues and challenge myself in ways I hadn't before. 📌 The Power of Small Wins: It showed me the incredible satisfaction that comes from taking initiative and seeing results, no matter how small. 📌 Building Momentum: Those two dollars were the seed money for bigger and better things. They fueled my determination to keep learning and growing. While my e-wallet is no longer surprised to see digits higher than a single LOL, those two dollars are a permanent reminder of how far I’ve come (and how broke I once was) 😂 😅 What about you?
