At the end of March, AT&T reported sensitive data linked to millions of current and former AT&T customers was leaked on the dark web. A dataset containing information about 7.6 million AT&T account holders and 65.4 million former account holders appeared on a hacking forum two weeks prior to the report. The leaked info included SSNs, account passcodes, and possibly email addresses, mailing addresses, phone numbers, and birth dates. AT&T is supposed to reach out to all account holders, but I wasn't able to determine if that includes the 65.4 million former account holders. If you suspect your information was leaked in the AT&T breach: - Consider requesting a credit freeze from nationwide credit bureaus (there's more than 3, btw) and setting up fraud alerts to protect your financial information. - Also look at freezing Lexis Nexis and ChexSystems. - Get an IRS Identity Protection PIN to prevent thieves from filing a tax return in your name. - Confirm with USPS that no fraudulent mail forwarding order has been placed for your address, then sign up for USPS Informed Delivery. There's more you can do, but hopefully this helps someone.

"Unmasking the Tactics of Chargeback Fraud: How Fraudsters Stay One Step Ahead" 🔒 Did you know that chargeback fraud is a constantly evolving game? As businesses tighten their security measures, fraudsters adapt their strategies to outsmart them. 🔍 Take, for instance, the case of a suspicious IP address associated with numerous chargebacks. Businesses may block that IP address, thinking they've won the battle. But the fraudster simply switches to a new IP address and continues their deceitful scheme. 🚫 Other prevention methods, like blocking high-value transactions or requiring additional identity verification, may seem foolproof. However, fraudsters are quick to find loopholes. They make multiple smaller transactions, use different credit cards for each purchase, or even provide fake phone numbers. 🌐 To further complicate matters, fraudsters can manipulate GPS location data. By using a VPN or proxy server, they can make it appear as if they're in a completely different location. 🎭 These cunning fraudsters employ a combination of techniques to outsmart chargeback prevention measures. They juggle multiple IP addresses, spoof their location and phone numbers, and cleverly make small transactions to fly under the radar. 🛡️ Stay informed and protect your business against these crafty tactics! #ChargebackFraud #StayVigilant #payingyourway

March is Fraud Prevention Month, which means it's time to take a few extra precautions to keep your money safe. Fraudsters use all kinds of tactics to steal your hard-earned cash, from old-fashioned telemarketing scams to cutting-edge AI schemes. But don't worry - we're always working to stay one step ahead of them. To help you protect yourself from fraud, we've put together a quick refresher on staying safe while managing your finances online: 1. Use strong passwords: Make them long, complex, and unique. We offer easy self-service tools to update your password (or reset it if you forget it). 2. Think before you click: If you receive an unsolicited or suspicious email, don't click on any links or open attachments. If someone's pressuring you to act quickly, that's a red flag. 3. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. 4. If you receive a call or email from someone claiming to be from Qtrade that seems suspicious, reach out to us directly to confirm. 5. Bookmark our website and download our mobile apps for Apple or Android to ensure you're always using the correct address. 6. Be wary of any requests for personal information, such as passwords or banking details. Let's keep those investments safe and sound!
