The massive conference realignment happening in college football is something that we’ve never seen. With so much movement at the top level of play, how will this move impact HBCU football? In my latest The Hilltop piece, I break down the reason behind the college football realignment, and discuss how this could impact HBCU football and their conference play. Check it out in my portfolio under “The Hilltop” button. https://lnkd.in/eVm2Mazf

I really enjoyed writing this article about the Texas Christian University football team! The Big 12 conference is hosting its football media days ahead of another exciting season! Coach Sonny Dykes talked to the media about what he sees in this year’s team and what he has learned in his role as head coach for the last two seasons. The interesting thing about private equity firms investing in college athletics is that it is being thought of as an additional stream of revenue for college athletics to pay the athletes. However, I think that private equity firms will mostly wnat to invest in bigger programs leaving smaller ones with more questions than answers. If those smaller programs cannot find enough additional revenue to pay athletes then they may have to cut certain sports. The first ones that may come to mind for programs would be some women's sports but it is not that easy. By cutting women's sports programs will have major title IX implications that go along with that decision. College sports are definitely in an interesting spot right now.
The NACDA convention in Las Vegas saw 7,000+ college athletics reps discussing the future of the industry. Key takeaways: 🚫 NCAA President Charlie Baker wants to ban prop betting on college sports, citing athlete harassment ⚖️ The employment status of athletes remains a hot topic, with ongoing debates and no clear resolution 💰 Private equity in college sports is being explored, but its implementation is complex and uncertain Plenty of questions remain as the industry navigates these issues. 📰 Ben Portnoy | https://ow.ly/IxyN50Sj4w9

It’s important for the next generation of leaders to understand the importance of community and networking.
ABC of Central Florida shared more about the Young Professionals group in the latest issue of Building Central Florida, and we see some familiar faces! The article featured CEP's own Anna Munzberg Rodriguez and Kaitlyn Cardwell, who coordinated hole sponsors at the annual golf event with the collegiate group. Go Kaitlyn and Anna!

Great to see this research. Sport really can be a leader in society to help build cultural competence, social cohesion through our common love for sport. Although this uses the example of football, it can apply in other settings. I have the privilege of being involved at Edinburgh South Cricket Club, where the club's membership includes 17 different nationalities, with a diverse range of ethnicities, religions, cultural identities and beliefs - but one common thing unites us, a shared love of cricket. Cricket is a game that requires people to spend vast amounts of time together on the field, working through situations together as a team to achieve a result. Through simply being around many others with different cultural experiences and identities, I've learnt so much. Most importantly, we've embraced the multiple cultural identities and beliefs as our strength, finding space to learn about and support each other. Less 'integration into a culture' and more 'evolution of our culture together'. Sport really can be a leader in society for bringing people together. Do you have a great example from your own club or sport? Feel free to share on our Equity Coach page!
Report out today on a brilliant British Future project, 'Shared Goals', looking at the power of football clubs to bridge divides by building shared and inclusive local identity in the towns and cities where they're based. Great to work with British Future colleague Jake Puddle and Brentford Football Club + Huddersfield Town Football Club on this. Read the report here: https://lnkd.in/gfTGTefY
