This is one of a few August month end closings that I had not yet had an opportunity to highlight… California Credit Union remains active and continues to deliver on quoted terms and unfunded commitments, amidst rising rates and general uncertainty. Like other lenders, we are being more selective with tightened criteria in the CRE space. This is an opportunity for the brokerage community to test the credit union process when there are fewer lenders available in the market. Knowing that we will be selective, please give us an opportunity with your best borrowers, and we will work to become an extension of the deliverability that your clients have grown to trust under your advisement. Strong, long term lending relationships / partnerships can still be formed in this environment. If you are having issues placing debt for your most qualified borrowers, the credit union may be an overlooked, yet viable option.

I never like to be negative, but yesterday’s developments were anything but positive. We stand with our community banks, the communities we are all privileged to serve, and reasonable legislation and regulation that both protects consumers and helps to drive New York forward. This development not only defies these principles but moves in the opposite direction. This is a shot across the bow for many, and we can’t stand by to watch this happen to any bank, no matter the size, type, region or charter.
