When clergy apply for roles in the nonprofit sector, they bring not only their deep commitment to mission-driven work but also a wealth of administrative experience that often goes unrecognized. As nonprofit board members, it's important to look beyond the surface of clergy candidates and consider the wide range of skills they have developed—particularly in managing complex administrative tasks alongside their more visible roles as spiritual and community leaders. Here’s what nonprofit board members should understand about clergy applying for leadership positions:

This is why building and strengthening Community Capacity should be at the forefront of economic development.
Erie, Pennsylvania-Session 6 of the ARC Leadership Institute was incredible. Building Community Capacity was our session focus. Imagine for a moment your town with no social infrastructure. No schools, no churches, no recreation, no parks, no grocery stores, no restaurants, no Main Street or small businesses, no museums, no libraries, no places where people gather socially and interact. Would you want to live there without those things? Now think, are you a community member that makes investments in those entities whether through spending your hard earned money there, collaboration in community service, volunteerism, philanthropy, or just being a good, active citizen? Building and Sustaining Community Capacity is HARD WORK! Thankful for another week of collaborating with world changers across the 13 Appalachian States. These people are amazing human beings, doing amazing work in their states. Though our year together is coming to an end, the impact this group will make across Appalachia is just beginning! It often happens that I get so caught up in my daily life (and head) but I am so thankful for having joined Latinos for Education as a 2024 Latino Board Fellow. Connecting with people who have a shared vision of Latino representation, education, and advancement is invigorating and powerful! - 40% of Fortune 1000 companies are inclusive of Latinos on their corporate boards, reflecting a 5 percentage point increase from 2022 – the second most notable increase since 2019. - With most of the progress occurring outside of the Fortune 100, minimal progress continues in the Fortune 100, shifting from 53% to 54% in Latino representation. - While slow, Latino board representation continues to rise. The numbers have increased to 5.4% of Fortune 500 seats held by a Latino and 4.9% among Fortune 1000, a 1% and .8% respectively, one of the most notable increases for both segments since 2020. Please take a look at Latinos for Education and their amazing programs that support communities across the United States
