CVS Equine’s new research analysing antibiotics use - as part of our major focus on antimicrobial stewardship - has just been published in @BEVA Equine Veterinary Education journal. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/eKP7xHdr Sales data shows antimicrobial prescriptions in our equine practices are in overall decline, especially the prescription of critically important antimicrobials enrofloxacin and ceftiofur. More detailed information - acquired using a point prevalence survey methodology - investigated the particulars of each patient, the drugs prescribed, their dose rates, and the clinical indications for their use. This allowed analysis of our prescribing practices over 12 months. The results of both pieces of work will now be used to help develop and inform new clinical research and guidelines for our antimicrobial use in horses. #cvsgroup #cvsequine #AMRstewardship
