A career in construction isn't always easy. But it's one of the most rewarding careers ever. If you ask construction workers what they like most about their job you'll probably hear two answers very frequently: One is getting to build stuff. The second is the people. In the skilled trades, yes, you'll likely have mornings where you have to wake up before 5 am, you'll probably have some 12-hour days, and you will have days that you go home exhausted. But the feeling of going home after creating something from nothing is nearly impossible to beat. There are few other career paths that you'll find that provide the same sense of satisfaction and pride at the end of the day as a career in the construction industry. 11moIn the field, I loved knowing that I made people's lives more comfortable. Utilities are something many take for granted until the street floods, water doesn't work, or toilets don't flush. Easy things to overlook in the US. Now, in the office I love negotiating and telling students, parents, adults, children, anyone about how awesome this industry is and how they can get involved!
