Today, on World Day Against Human Trafficking, I want to share some critical information about this pervasive issue: Common Types of Human Trafficking: - Forced Labor: Individuals are compelled to work against their will, often under threats or as a form of indentured servitude. - Sex Trafficking: Victims are coerced into performing sexual acts. - Child Soldiers: Children are exploited as combatants in conflicts. Key Statistics: - 49.6 million people are currently trapped in modern slavery worldwide, including 12 million children. (ILO, UN) - 54% of these victims are women and girls, with the remaining 46% being men and boys. (ILO) - In the U.S., sex trafficking is the most prevalent form of trafficking. (Polaris) - Child sex trafficking has been reported in all 50 states. (NCMEC) - Human trafficking generates a staggering $150 billion annually. (UNICEF) - It is the second most profitable illegal industry in the U.S. (UNICEF) Let’s use this day to amplify our efforts in combating human trafficking and supporting its victims. 🚨 Human trafficking is a global crisis that's thriving in the shadows, exploiting millions of lives every day. It's estimated that over 40 million people are victims of this heinous crime worldwide, with women and children comprising 71% of those trafficked. Every 30 seconds, someone becomes a victim of human trafficking, forced into labor, or subjected to sexual exploitation. This modern-day slavery generates around $150 billion in illegal profits annually. We must stand together to raise awareness and fight against this atrocity. Educate yourself, support anti-trafficking organizations, and report suspicious activities. Let's be the voice for those who can't speak out. 💔 #EndHumanTrafficking #Awareness #StandAgainstTrafficking #HumanRights

As someone who generally steers clear of politics, I recognize the critical importance of understanding what different political parties in the UK propose regarding sexual crime and abuse. Recently, the CEO of We Are Survivors. provided a comprehensive breakdown of the various parties' manifestos on this crucial issue. It is encouraging to see that all parties appear to give this matter significant attention, at least on paper. Regardless of which party wins the upcoming elections, it is imperative that they are held accountable for their commitments. We must advocate for systemic changes and improvements to ensure that victims of sexual crime and abuse receive the support and justice they deserve. I invite you to read the detailed breakdown here: https://lnkd.in/e5iG9zYT
In the lead up to the #GeneralElection we're asking all political parties and candidates to ensure tackling sexual abuse, rape and sexual exploitation is taken as a priority into the next Parliament. Read our CEO's look at the party manifestos, and their commitment to tackling sexual violence here: https://lnkd.in/eFWRpakv #WeAreSurvivors #GreaterManchester
