Really! How is recognizing a particular day out of 365 days, nearly 160 years after the event, cause you to learn and engage with local communities. Learn what and engage how and with whom from these communities????? This statement doesn't seem to have much substance. Please respond with something that will make me have to apologize for pre-judging it. What is the outline of your plan for creating sustainable change??
At Freddie Mac, we’re committed to creating sustainable change for racial equity across our industry. By recognizing Juneteenth — the oldest known celebration honoring the end of slavery in the United States — we continue to advance our learning and engagement with local communities.
On this Juneteenth it’s a time to reflect on the progress we've made, acknowledge the ongoing fight for racial justice, and commit to creating a more inclusive and equitable society for all. Let's stand together, learn from history, and work towards a future of unity and equality. #Juneteenth#EmancipationDay#RacialJustice

Happy Juneteenth, everyone! 🎉 This is a video I filmed in 2022 that still feels relevant today. While it’s important to recognize Juneteenth as a new federal holiday, we must also acknowledge that a holiday isn’t enough to challenge the deep-rooted structural racism that still exists in our society.
Systemic racism affects the lived experiences of marginalized communities every single day. While a federal holiday recognizes the significance of Juneteenth – the day that news of Emancipation reached Black people in Texas in 1865 – there is still considerable work to be done in dismantling the structures that perpetuate inequality in the United States.
Let’s use this day as a catalyst for action.
📚Educate yourself about the historical context of Juneteenth and the ongoing fight against structural racism. Check link in bio for resources.
💬 Engage in conversations that challenge and question the status quo.
🎗️Support organizations that are actively working to create a more just and equitable society.
🎙️Advocate for policies that address systemic racism.
The struggle for equality goes beyond a single day of celebration. As a storyteller, I’m committed to actively amplifying the voices of those who have been previously marginalized.
✊🌍❤️

Juneteenth is more than just a celebration; it’s a reminder that justice can win over oppression. It makes us think about what true freedom means in a world still affected by racial injustice. Let’s renew our promise to create a society where freedom and equality are real for everyone.
As adults, we have a crucial role in this. It’s up to us to educate our children about Juneteenth and its powerful message. By sharing the history and significance of this day, we help them understand the ongoing fight for racial justice. Let’s use this moment to instill values of justice, equality, and freedom in our kids, ensuring that these ideals become a reality for everyone.
The Million Man March, held on October 16, 1995, in Washington, D.C., was a monumental event that called upon Black men to unite in personal responsibility, justice, and community empowerment. Led by Minister Louis Farrakhan, it gathered nearly a million men with a shared commitment to improving their lives, families, and communities.
The March emphasized the power of unity, self-determination, and the importance of addressing societal injustices while taking accountability for the role one plays in uplifting their own communities. Its legacy is a reminder of the strength that comes from collective action, the need to fight systemic inequality, and the necessity of continued progress in the quest for justice, equality, and dignity for all.
Key lessons:
Unity: There's power in coming together for a common cause.
Self-improvement: Lasting change begins with individual growth and accountability.
Justice: The fight for equality requires persistence and community mobilization.
Legacy: Building a better future is a responsibility we owe to the next generation.

I have always believed that people are good people and they can be the best human beings and not human creatures if they open both their hearts and minds to engage and understand each other. No one can wear the shoe of an another but we can be present in the moment to respect, value and cherish all who bring something to the table provided that we remain authentic to our own being.
Throughout my life, I have aimed for milestones and goals so high that people would tell me to "reach for the stars". What learning from everyone around me has taught me is that I do not want to reach for the stars - I rather want to be part of the most awesome galaxy of stars - each one shining brightly and the brilliance of shine of belonging!
With that, I have been part of Steering Committee of Carroll Citizens for Racial Equity (CCRE) for quite a few years. While we know that Carroll County in Maryland has a long way to go for a complete assurance of everyone knowing and believing that they belong, this grassroots organization is slowly and surely moving and inching towards the aura of galaxy of stars.
Both as a citizen of Carroll County, a Steering Committee member of CCRE and a faculty of Carroll Community College, I am so pleased that we will offer our annual Conference this Friday, April 26th at Carroll Community College. It is an annual Conference that required months of planning and to see it coming to fruition yet again this year makes me believe in the "being" of the human being.
Gov. Wes Moore and Lt. Gov. Aruna Miller administration stands on the principle of leaving no one behind. Truly how can we leave anyone behind when all must belong? I have witnessed that first hand that we all must pull everyone together as part of my work working and observing the fine colleagues at Maryland Governor's Office of Community Initiatives (GOCI).

Honoring Juneteenth - A Day of Reflection and Renewed Commitment
Today, we commemorate an important milestone in American history - Juneteenth. On June 19, 1865, the news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached the farthest corners of the nation, marking the end of slavery in the United States.
While it was another step towards freedom, we know the journey was long and the fight against racism is still not over. Juneteenth reminds us of the resilience of the human spirit and the progress that can be achieved through perseverance and solidarity.
At Nissa Consulting, we reaffirm our commitment to promoting racial equity and inclusion within the nonprofit sector and beyond. We vow to amplify voices that have been silenced, create more opportunities, and work towards dismantling systemic barriers.
On this day, we reflect on how far we've come but also acknowledge how much further we must go. Let Juneteenth fuel us with renewed determination to build a more just, equal and compassionate society for all.
We invite nonprofits and community leaders to share how you are honoring Juneteenth and what actions you are taking to advance racial justice. Together, we can spark meaningful change.

My Humpday Message: Sudden thought: As we celebrate freedom today, how can we ensure that this freedom translates into the culmination of wealth and racial equity for Black and Brown communities? What steps can we take to bridge the gaps in economic opportunities and achieve true equality?
🎆 Happy 4th of July! 🎆
As we celebrate our nation's independence, it's important to reflect on the invaluable contributions of Black and Brown communities. These communities have been instrumental in shaping America's history, from their pivotal roles in the fight for independence and civil rights to their leadership in arts, science, and technology. Yet, despite these contributions, the journey towards racial equity and economic justice continues.
Can you imagine a future where the contributions of all Americans are recognized and rewarded equally, where wealth is not concentrated in the hands of a few but is distributed fairly, and where racial equity is not just an ideal but a reality.? I can!!!! This Independence Day, let’s commit to building that future. Let’s work together to dismantle systemic barriers, support minority-owned businesses, and advocate for policies that promote economic justice and equity.
Your voice, actions, and support, now more than ever, can make a difference. Share your thoughts on how we can create a more inclusive and equitable America, and let's take meaningful steps towards a brighter future for all. 💪🏽💡
