In an emergency, vulnerable children need protection. Whether it’s war and conflict, a natural disaster or other major crisis, catastrophes shatter children’s lives in a heartbeat. Last year, SOS Children’s Villages supported over 1.3 million people in emergencies. And we stay for the long-haul. We don’t just provide immediate assistance through food, shelter and medical care. We help rebuild communities and nurture children whose lives have been devastated. Discover more about how, together, we’re helping children and families in the most unimaginable situations at https://lnkd.in/ea9ndeJF

Due to recent events in Missouri, DMH-Office of Disaster Services has updated the Mass Violence webpage to ensure Missourians have access to information on general response and recovery, caregiver specific resources, prevention, available training, and where to find help. Mass violence events are human-caused tragedies that can impact whole communities. These types of events include shootings, acts of terrorism, or mass riots. Survivors may have feelings of confusion, fear, guilt, and helplessness. Sometimes, those with no personal connections to the event may even be impacted. It’s normal for people to experience emotional distress after an event. Find out more at the link below. https://lnkd.in/gemk9D96

Critical support for VAWG- how we support, how we care, and how we enable those that have suffered the most. Ultimately it’s the Right thing to do.
Specialist, trauma-informed support, like those provided by Rape Crisis centres, can be life-changing and life-saving for victims and survivors of sexual violence and abuse. For many Rape Crisis centres, the Government's Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Fund is a core part of their funding - it helps centres keep their lights on and keep doors open to survivors. But there has been no official commitment from any political party to extend the Fund beyond March 2025. Putting the future of many centres at risk. Ahead of the General Election, we are calling for all UK political parties to commit to adequate, long-term and sustainable funding to help keep Rape Crisis centres open - and we need your help to make our voices heard! Will you sign our petition and help save these life-changing services? To add your support, visit: https://ow.ly/fpK550Sb2uH

I know many people for whom this human, caring, and trauma-informed support has been a lifeline in the wake of sexual abuse. Insecure funding creates inefficiency and undermines services - it means their time is forever spent fighting for the the money to keep going, versus getting on with what they need to be doing. If you feel the same, do consider signing the petition below, bringing this critical issue to politicians' attention at this timely moment.

Why does this continue to happen? Why don’t we just try to come up with a solution instead of arguing whether or not something is or isn’t going to work. When is this going to stop being normalized? When will it be enough? How many innocent children and people have to die before we get tired of hearing this? When are we going to stop sending prayers and condolences and moving on with our lives? #mentalhealthadvocate #mentalhealthmatters #socialworker #lifeinsuranceagent #georgia
