Crisis Services of North Alabama’s Post

Our volunteer HELPline staff provides critical support to people in crisis. They are trained to listen compassionately, offer empathy, and help people find resources and solutions. One HELPline volunteer shared that his training and experience had a profound impact on his relationships with family and colleagues. He said the skills he learned, such as active listening, empathy, building rapport, and de-escalation, helped him connect with others on a deeper level. He also found the experience of working with people from diverse backgrounds to be eye-opening and fulfilling. His son was so inspired by his transformation that he also became a volunteer. If you are interested in becoming a HELPline counselor, we invite you to join our upcoming training seminar. After you're trained, we ask that you work at least 2 four-hour shifts per month.
