Our volunteer HELPline staff provides critical support to people in crisis. They are trained to listen compassionately, offer empathy, and help people find resources and solutions. One HELPline volunteer shared that his training and experience had a profound impact on his relationships with family and colleagues. He said the skills he learned, such as active listening, empathy, building rapport, and de-escalation, helped him connect with others on a deeper level. He also found the experience of working with people from diverse backgrounds to be eye-opening and fulfilling. His son was so inspired by his transformation that he also became a volunteer. If you are interested in becoming a HELPline counselor, we invite you to join our upcoming training seminar. After you're trained, we ask that you work at least 2 four-hour shifts per month. Dates: August 15th - September 19th Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM Training Includes: Role play practice and live practice with experienced HELPline volunteers at your side Topics Covered: Active listening skills, diverse crisis situations, ethics, boundaries, handling difficult calls, and more Sign up today and start making a difference in the lives of others. We're thrilled to be one of 21 local organizations chosen to receive a generous grant from Mazda Toyota Manufacturing's MTM Grant Fund. This funding will provide direct assistance to domestic violence survivors who are leaving HOPE Place (our emergency domestic violence shelter) and rebuilding their lives after escaping from their abuser. Often, when survivors leave, they face a significant financial burden for necessities like utility and rental deposits. The MTM Grant Fund will help alleviate this burden for our clients, empowering them to transition to a new life free from violence.
We are proud to announce the 2024 MTM Grant Fund winners! ❤️ It is an honor to give back $170,000 to 21 non-profits in our local North Alabama community. Team members hand-delivered a few checks to our incredible partners at Athens-Limestone Hospital, Crisis Services of North Alabama, HEALS, Inc. (Health Establishments at Local Schools), and The CARE Center.

We were honored to meet with AXO Science at the recent American Academy of Forensic Sciences conference. We've been testing their innovative STK Sperm Tracker technology and have now incorporated it into our forensic exams. This tool helps us detect semen in ways traditional methods can't. A big shoutout to Kailyn, one of our amazing forensic nurses, who played a crucial role in the trial and training our nursing team on this valuable tool.
Another great congress #AAFS2024 in Denver! Nice to meet with our #STK Skin customers, and above all, value added users 💪 Crisis Services of North Alabama Liana Hill @Kailyn #forensicscience #forensicnurse #justiceforall
