- Majority of incidents occur within 25 feet of the P. - Majority of incidents occur in or around the P's car - The attacker, whose intent maybe is to cause harm or embarrassment will need Access to the P and will use some kind of Concealment to hide their intent until ready to carry out their act. - Majority of incidents last 5 seconds. This is from when the attacker does an overt act ( draws a firearm / knife / jumping a barrier etc) This means that the Protection team has less than 5 seconds to dynamically risk assess what's happening and react accordingly. - Some form of hostile recce's will have taken place , be that physically and/or using on-line methods. - High percentage of incidents will take place on barrier lines or Stage work
I've been reading posts and commentary regarding the shooting of Slovakia's PM last week. It would be easy, with the benefit of hindsight to jump on the PC and become a keyboard Tactical genius!! What I want to do is however share some themes which highlights the difficulties the PM's team faced and compare what happened to other historical incident's. For the last 4 years I have researched and carried out analysis on about 4000 incidents against high profile people worldwide. Majority of these are on open source and I have been lucky to capture first hand experiences from both private industry and other worldwide protection units. The following is no secret but the takeaways and common themes are: - Majority of incidents occur within 25 feet of the P. - Majority of incidents occur in or around the P's car - The attacker, whose intent maybe is to cause harm or embarrassment will need Access to the P and will use some kind of Concealment to hide their intent until ready to carry out their act. - Majority of incidents last 5 seconds. Let's not jump on the band wagon and criticise our counterparts who will have faced something we never want to. " It's not the critic that counts" Thanks to James Hamilton and Gavin De Becker who were so supportive of my research and to those within other worldwide protection commands.

Over 90% of the time, when an alarm is triggered, it’s due to events that have nothing to do with crime. It could be an animal, a new employee, an unexpected family member, or even weather-related. With ACS Fire & Security, we use a combination of live video footage and event-based video, which allows us to see video leading up to the alarm triggering incident, and video immediately after to make an informed decision on what’s happening 👉 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eXahzgVY
