Work with experts. Learn from experts. That’s how the best law firms go from simply getting by to absolutely dominating their market. The truth is, there’s a gap between where you are now and where you want to be — and the only way to bridge that gap is by tapping into the knowledge and experience of those who’ve already been there. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Instead, align yourself with the people who know how to drive growth, build winning strategies, and achieve results. Surround yourself with the right experts, and success becomes inevitable. If you're ready to elevate your firm, it’s time to take action. #Crisp #MichaelMogill

"While firms often believe they’re doing everything they can to ensure their lateral partners’ success, I observe that the two to three years in which it takes most firms to write off new laterals as “underperforming” is the same two to three years in which laterals fester with concerns that they are (rationally) afraid to voice." 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/gBSinnDN #firmpartner #lateralmove #lateralhire #equitypartner #lawfirm #legaladvice #legalfirm #firm #advice

Good read in this article that Bo Yancey highlights. His insight is spot on that the fact a law firm is a business should NOT be shocking to firm's Partners! This should be self-evident. Also, the article quotes the insightful Kent Zimmermann “Firms that don’t address chronic under-performers—that actually can sometimes cause high performers to leave.” High performers not only want to be rewarded for their excellent work but they also do not like to stay in firms that tolerate and sometimes even highly compensate underperformers.
Driving profitability and growth for law firms & professional services businesses | Helping firms achieve their full potential through data-driven insights, strategic planning, and cultural alignment
Lots to say about this....is it actually surprising, or negative, that businesses with profits per partner well over $1 million per year would ask for business plans from their partners? That performance is measured and accountability is "a thing?" If there are surprises, there shouldn't be, and that may be why there is some blame, or "opportunity" for some law firms to communicate better, declare more definitively who they are (and are not), and ensure that expectations are understood. But it not the case that a focus on profitability is new, unfair, or surprising. If the goal posts moved without warning--that is one thing. But business plans, protecting the value of equity, measuring and rewarding profit--these are all part of any successful business, regardless of ownership structure. Profit and culture should be complimentary and not at odds conceptually. If there's an opportunity, or criticism, it's that firms miss this piece. The good news is that it's solvable and the solution results in many benefits including a path to greater profitability. https://lnkd.in/deMvYdR3
