It's 9.13 on Monday morning and I'm already baffled. What is "neuro-architecture"? And what is a "roof design that engages with the digital navigation era" please? Both these phrases are in an architect's press release I've just received. Incidentally a press release for a project in Italy by an Italian architecture practice* for Cambridge Architecture magazine?! Architects - please keep press releases clear and simple and cut out the archispeak. It also helps if you think about who you're sending it to and why. If you need help with the communication of your designs and who you are targeting let me know, I know lots of fantastic publicists and copywriters who understand architecture and would be only too happy to help! Juliette Mitchell, Stacey Meadwell, Sophie Lacey, Felicity Parsons, Celeste Bolte, Julia Nicholls and Dominique Staindl - to name but a few! *Not my lovely clients in Italy Pardini Hall Architecture I hasten to add! _______ Hi 👋 I’m Susie. When it comes to branding and communications, it’s easy to get stuck in the way things have always been done. However, we believe that looking beyond our industry is the key to finding fresh perspectives. Other sectors often approach these areas in ways that can inspire new strategies and help one break away from conventional thinking. This is especially true in architecture and design, where communications and marketing are still fairly new compared to other booming industries. Yes, architecture and design are service-oriented fields, but that doesn't mean we can’t learn from product-based sectors. Architects don’t always need to speak in a rigid, formal tone. There’s room for creativity in how we communicate, and by drawing inspiration from outside our field, we can find new ways to set ourselves apart. What do you think? __________________ #StrategicCommunications #BrandBuilding #Branding #Brand #Communications #Content #Architects #Designers #InteriorDesigners #ForArchitects #CommunicationsAgency #BrandStrategy #Architectural #ArchitectureDesign #Marketing #Inspiration #Creativity #CommunicationsAgency #CreativeAgency #Xen #XenCommunications

Architects, the best part about marketing? Getting creative with your marketing is way less risky than designing buildings. Don't overthink it. Experiment, adjust, and have a little fun. Your marketing is one design project you have full control of. #MarketingForArchitects #MarketingInsights #ArchitectureBusiness #AEC

Can content teams learn from architects? I think so. I read a book on buildings and was struck by the similarities. (Architects please weigh in—none were consulted in writing this 😆). In the diagram below, adapted from Stewart Brand's, you've got a system built of layers. Those layers evolve/degrade at different rates. Properly maintained, they are eternal. Most barely last a lifetime. Why? 1. Unstable foundation 2. People apply "fifty-year fixes to five-minute problems" and vice versa 3. People end up working on layers that don't match their interests 4. Nobody ever does the necessary but boring maintenance 5. Few realize that for the building to adapt, you must leave some decisions up to future tenants (and build it to be extensible) In content, what might we do to overcome those? To me, so much of it comes back to brand identity, content operations, and actually diagramming these things out so we don't all look like Charlie from It's Always Sunny when people ask us what we're working on. (If this interests you, I did a whole writeup on it in today's issue of Fenwick's newsletter, #Longview.) #contentmarketing #b2bmarketing #content Fenwick

Dear Architect: When it comes to finding more clients, most depend on word-of-mouth referrals from past clients or other contacts only. Unfortunately, this passive approach leaves you at the mercy of your existing network, and doesn’t smooth out the ups and downs of running your architecture practice! Referrals alone also stops you from growing and bringing on new projects as quickly as you want. Referrals are reactive and sometimes you need a client tap you can turn on when you need more. That sick feeling of worrying about where your next project is going to come from or knowing you are taking on a ‘bad fit’ projects ‘just to pay the bills’ means you don't have your marketing sorted. No one taught you this in architecture school! Fortunately, marketing does not have to be this big a mystery that always haunts you anymore. I discovered the principles you’ll learn on this flowchart, and it has made all the difference for over 600 architects around the world. Consider yourself lucky for finding this page because now you can have it too. -Richard Download the Circle of Love flowchart for free: 👉 https://lnkd.in/eWtcVK_U 👈
