So looking forward to this session, provider registration, risk identification and mitigation along with emergency and disaster management are of utmost importance, and rightly so. However I temper this with the caution that as a person with a disability some of these mitigation 'best practice' strategies that I have seen, heard and been subject to are going far beyond a risk-proportional mitigation. Far beyond preventing a provider from harming a PWD and crossing into attempting to prevent any harm (as perceived by by an arbitrary outsider) to a PWD in any aspect of their lives, this is controlling, invasive, unnecessary, and when applied or advised unilaterally could be very damaging. Getting this ‘right’ is so important for provider sustainability, workforce sustainability, the NDIS as a whole and for maintaining and upholding PWD rights to autonomy, to make mistakes, to have the freedom to choose differently to what someone else may chose ‘for them’.
Registration is a big topic to get around, so make sure your info comes from those in the know. Our NDIS Provider and Worker Registration Taskforce Update features the big brains of Natalie Wade, Vicki O'Halloran, and Michael Borowick JP, in a panel discussion hosted by our own Jessica Quilty. Of course you've already got your ticket, right? Just in case you somehow missed it (!), here's the link: https://lnkd.in/eyqX22DE With enormous thanks to our Presenting sponsors Performl ; Possability , and ShiftCare, as well as a big list of teams that are making all this possible: Carer Gateway Ltd ; VisiCase Australia Pty Ltd ; quickclaim ; MYP ; Ability Roundtable; AccessAccom; CTARS ; United Disability Care ; Complete Nursing and Home Care ; StewartBrown ; My Plan Manager ; the National Mental Health Consumer and Carer Forum (NMHCCF) and Housing Hub 💕

⭐️Fabulous meeting with Shilpa Anilkumar ! It’s a great chance to peel back another layer, revealing the real barriers NDIS participants and their coordinators face with allied health services. Main Takeaway: - Faster Responses: Delays aren’t just inconvenient; they’re a real roadblock. Solution: 4 business-hour response to referral -Deeper Insights in Reports: The everyday impact of disabilities needs to shine through, clear and detailed. Solution: Elaborate on how the objective finding reflects the barriers the participants have Let’s tackle these barriers together. Meeting coordinators isn’t just part of the work; it’s at the heart of why we do what we do. #MakingADifferenceTogether #NDIS #Healthroos #supportcoordinator #NDISphysio

📢Did you know people with disability are less likely to receive palliative care than those without? At NDS, we're working to change this. Discover what palliative care is and how to support people with disability to access it with our comprehensive resource. ➡️https://lnkd.in/g_5QXjAv Recently we brought over 200 people together for a forum in Melbourne, where we explored how living with disability and life-limiting illness should not be a barrier to end-of-life conversations and planning. IM WITH YOU is unlike any other organisation supporting people living with a disability. Here's a few reasons why: 1) Our Support Workers must be qualified, then they are trained in what the disability is, then they work with the client in order to know what and how to support the person, living with a disability. We do this because you can have two people living with the same disability, and their needs, wants, dreams and aspirations are completely different to each other. 2) Our Accessible travel division, allows people with a disability to book their flights and accomodation and our consultants will finalise all of the requirements for their travel prior to payment. If payment is an issue upfront, we offer PlanPay, which allows people to pay off their travel with no interest, no credit checks, it's a lay-by system. 3) Next, we offer same day Telehealth Registered Nursing Services; 4) Our life coaching program allows clients to define their goals, which can come in handy for when plan assessments are coming up with the NDIS; and 5) Our new online store that allows consumers to purchase low risk assistive technology products that can be used for everyone, for example, our smart water bottle that is a portable medication dispenser! Head to imwithyou.pdstaging.com.au to find out more about our services, because we want to make sure that people living with a disability have the life that they desire with the dedicated support that goes along with it.
