Production of new single-family homes reached more than 1 million annually in 2022 and 2023 for the first time since the housing bubble burst in 2007, according to the survey. Apartment construction is also at historic levels, with 438,500 units built last year, the highest level since 1987. I’m not sure the U.S. can build 1M market rate & 1M affordable. The tax & strain on the supply chain & labor force will drive cost up…not down.

That's consistent with our recent survey of some of the largest residential land brokers in the US. In almost every part of the country, "Local Jurisdiction Requirements and Lengthy Delays" is the single biggest impediment to increasing the supply of developed land for homebuilders. Worth noting this problem is most widespread among land brokers in the Northeast and California - areas where housing costs are most extreme. Energy Security Minister Ed Miliband has announced plans to increase the minimum energy efficiency standard for rental properties to a C rating by 2030. To be eligible for the grants, households must meet one of the following criteria: • Eligible postcodes: Based on deprivation factors. • Benefit claimants: Tenants receiving benefits such as Universal Credit or housing benefit • Low-income households: Gross income below £36,000 per year. • Councils will verify that grant applicants meet these requirements. Their will be rules around not increasing rents due to improvements as well as registering yourself for a survey.
