I was able to meet up with a fascinating community of CPA firms who care so deeply about their customers they meet regularly to workshop how to increase the value they deliver to their clients. What a fantastic approach to think about your industry / community. Even though you might compete with each other at some level, everyone benefits when you work towards improving outcomes for your clients. Interesting piece on the relatively new phenomenon of private equity firms owning stakes in professional partnerships. Time will tell as to whether the model works for the medium term for the mid-sized accounting firms including those represented here in Aberdeen. The obvious conflict between the interests (and egos😉) of professional fee earning partners and the usual private equity model of •invest-grow-sell• will need careful handling to avoid value erosion.
