When I bring out the board and marker, you know it is time to teach. One thing about #teaching that interests me is the sharpening of destinies. I have seen this play out time and again. #Teaching can move (just like electrons) seemingly dull minds from the ground state to where they like stars shine brightest. I once heard a Man of #God say, "If you want to train a man, teach him, and if you want to destroy a man, teach him". Simply put, if we are taught correctly, there is a high #possibility we will turn out right, and this would, in turn, affect every other area of life. Interestingly, this happens to be one thing that I don't take lightly. At Marvel Leadership Academy (MLA), we are committed to raising #young people who will become cutting-edge leaders across all spheres of life. This resonates completely. Effective leaders have to take the time to build a trusting, authentic, empathetic environment where they work in true partnership with all school stakeholders including learners and parents.

In its latest study, Whiteboard Advisors highlights solutions-focused #HigherEd leaders who are working “hand-in-hand with school districts, helping upskill or reskill existing staff, building important leadership pipelines, and opening doors to the teaching profession to students who would otherwise not have the time or resources to pursue an education degree.”  These institutions include American Council on Education, Western Governors University, Lamar University, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, University of Notre Dame Alliance for Catholic Education, and Reach University. When you look at the criteria for all of the scholarships and fellowships that we work with, three main types of criteria stand out. I call these “the big three.” Academic Excellence, Leadership, and Service...!!

At 16, I dropped out of high school to help my family pay the bills. At 18, I went to boot camp with $20 to my name. From there, I worked my way through 9 colleges: 1. The Marine Corps Institute 2. Adams State 3. Saddleback Community College 4. Vanguard 5. Santa Ana Community College 6. Stanford 7. UC Berkeley 8. Vanderbilt 9. Harvard Someone a lot smarter than me would have skipped a lot of these steps, but I’m grateful for what I learned during each chapter of that journey. No matter where you started or where you want to go, consistent execution will unlock that next level. Be relentless, my friends. #leadership #mentoring #executivecoaching
