Our article on the safety and efficacy of high-load resistance training was just published in the prestigious European Journal of Preventive Cardiology of European Society of Cardiology! In the paper, we present the very recent safety and efficacy advances in implementation of high-load resistance training (>70% of 1-RM) in early phases of #cardiacrehabilitation of patients with coronary artery disease and heart failure. In addition, we also proposed the baseline safety and resistance exercise tolerance assessments and training progression from moderate load to high load resistance training in patients who cannot tolerate high-load resistance training in early phases of #cardiacrehabilitation. https://lnkd.in/dBa3W2e2 Article is open access and the publication file will be available soon. Happy to share our new meta-analysis titled “Circulating brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels and heart failure: A systematic review and meta-analysis” published in ESC Heart Failure journal, European Society of Cardiology, Wiley. Link: https://lnkd.in/dGjYqmeR We found that #BDNF levels are decreased in patients with #HF. Most importantly, we observed an association between lower BDNF levels and poor #prognosis in patients with HF. Our study supports BDNF as an easy-to-dose #diagnostic and prognostic #biomarker to be implemented in clinical practice for HF. Further studies are warranted to address this ability specifically. One of the toughest cases I frequently encounter in the Cath Lab is what is known is chronic IN-STENT RESTENOSIS (ISR). ISR is known to cause poor clinical outcomes include major adverse cardiac events, target lesion revascularization, cardiac death, and myocardial infarction! Intravascular ultrasound use is critical in identifying the underlying mechanism of ISR - 1. Mechanical: stent underexpansion, fracture 2. Biological: neointimal hyperplasia, neoatherosclerosis Treatment is multi-faceted, and often more complex than a stent implant! What will create a paradigm shift in the treatment of ISR?
