Development Consultant with a Strong Leadership Background | Strategic Catalyst | Lean Six Sigma | Project Management | TS/SCI | Air Force Veteran
So last week, I made a lighthearted post about my frustration with trying to explain my experience. Now, I want to make this a little more serious. It is mind-blowing the amount of work it takes to get your name out there and get noticed to receive job offers. I know I can always do more. I can connect with people more, write more resumes, and broaden my expectations to open more career paths. I can explain what I have done, the degrees that I have earned, and the certifications I've obtained. What I can't do in my resume: Tell you that 14 years of service has led to a loyalty that I have been willing to lay my life down for. I have a work ethic that says my work is my home until I complete the task. A desire to build teams and facilitate professional development because I'm only as good as the team I am a part of. Core values of integrity, service, and excellence have been drilled into me since I joined the military. I have the experience, the drive, and the willingness to do what your job descriptions ask. Maybe I get to explain that in an interview, but I need to be given that opportunity first. #hireveterans #hireme #veterans #jobs #recruiters

Fellow Veterans, this post is for you! Let’s talk about my favorite things currently…resumes and interviewing. Every Veteran has skills that they need to be aware of when searching for a job. If you don’t know what skills you have and want to highlight how will any potential employer? Use the resources available to you to help tailor your resume and prep for an interview. If you’re unsure of all of the resources network with other transitioning veterans. I’ve never ran into someone who transitioned out of the military and didn’t have a ton of advice that they WANTED to share. Keep in mind that while serving our country is respected and admired it does not guarantee you the job of your dreams. Being a leader in the military also does not automatically equal being a leader in the civilian career field you’re interested in. Draw the lines to connect your experience in the military to a trait or skill in the job you want. Do a little work to really tailor your resume to highlight the things you know a specific position is looking for. Answer interview questions with details about how your experience aligns with responsibilities of the new position. Simply stating that you served in the military is not enough to secure that highly sought after career. The person pictured below tells me all the time that he worries about being able to translate his skills when he decides to retire but little does he know that I’m already compiling his list of skills and experience 😉

📢 #JobSeekers Whether you’re actively looking or just testing the waters, time is everything in today’s fast-paced job market! ⏳ Here’s my advice: share your resume early! Don’t wait for recruiters to ask. Doing so not only cuts down on your wait time for a response but also shows you're prepared, engaged, and ready to take action. The sooner you send it, the faster we can match you with opportunities that align with your skills, experience and preferences! 🚀 Waiting could be the difference between landing a job or missing out. Remember, it’s not just about saying you’re looking—it’s about being ready to apply. #ProTip #JobSeekers #Resumes #Aerospace #HiringNow #ChiptonRoss #ActFast #JobOpportunities

After meeting three young men over the weekend who attributed their unemployment to bad luck and government policies, I engaged them in conversation to understand their situation. They disclosed that despite attending multiple job interviews, they consistently fell short of meeting the required standards. Upon further evaluation, I found that based on their responses and qualifications, I too would not consider hiring them. This experience underscores the notion that unemployment is not solely due to a lack of job opportunities, but can also be attributed to factors such as lack of preparation or insufficient competence. It is essential for individuals seeking employment to engage in self-reflection and self-improvement to address any shortcomings that may be deterring potential employers. By taking proactive steps to enhance their skills and qualifications, individuals can better position themselves for success in the job market.

Regularly updating your resume is one of the best things you can do for your career. If you’re like most professionals (including us!), you only update your resume when you start a new job search. However, there are compelling reasons to regularly review this important career document to ensure it’s ready to use at a moment’s notice. If your resume is updated on a regular basis, it takes very little time to add details about a promotion, a new skill, or an educational achievement when the time comes. Throw in the right keywords, and it’s ready when you need — without the additional stress. Need help? A common statement from jobseekers is 'no one responds to my applications' & that is 100% true. And the reason being? - You have applied for a job at random! - You have not read through the job pre-requisites! - You have shared a ton of information not relevant to the job - including 15 certificates, a 12 MB cv filled with images and has ended up in the hiring manager's junk email!! Dear #JobSeekers - Please read the job post in full before applying .. shall save you time and also the person on the other end having to sort through a couple of 100 cvs to find the right candidates .. A #CoverLetter if you must - keep it short and simple and not your life story .. The purpose of the application, your current role - employed or not and possibly a short brief of your skills and experience. Remember to apply the #KISS Principle - 'keep it simple silly' .. 😉 At the moment - I am a looking at some great #CVs for the #ekfc roles and some have not made the reading desk because they have not read through the job post. The next time you see a job posting : Take your time. Read it. Understand it. Apply. Meanwhile, keep your heads up. The right job shall come along. But be ready when that opportunity comes. Appreciate your time. Channa .. ZENZ GLOBAL 🌎🌍🌏 #TuesdayVibes #JobTips #Resume #JobOpportunities #LinkedIn #ZENZGlobal #People #Success #Leadership 🌞😎💚💪
