CSU Microbiology, Immunology & Pathology’s Post

Human #Tuberculosis is difficult and lengthy to cure, even in cases of fully drug-susceptible disease. #MRL researchers and collaborators provide a foundational basis for addressing this problem. Using advanced spatial drug quantification methodologies, along with conventional #CFU and an investigational #Pharmacodynamic marker that quantifies ongoing #rRNA synthesis (i.e., RS ratio®), the authors identify vastly different #BacterialPhenotypes in C3HeB/FeJ mice, that show differing levels of susceptibility to #Antibiotics with diverse mechanisms-of-action. 🐭 This work provides insight into how #Microenvironmental niches may contribute to the long treatment durations required to cure tuberculosis: https://lnkd.in/g4s_qrnS. #CSU Authors: Allison Bauman, Michelle Ramey, Lisa Massoudi, Brendan Podell, and Gregory Robertson. #Pharmokinetics #TB #Mycobateria #DrugTreatment #MIP #CSUResearch #MicrobialMetrics
